American High School PTSA

AHSPTSA presented this year’s American High PTSA Senior Scholarship of $1000 each to four students during the Senior Awards Night on May 21st.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all the students who submitted their applications. It was a challenging task for the Scholarship Committee to select the finalists. A special thank you goes to Ms. Chih-Chow (AHS Career and College Specialist) for her unwavering support in coordinating with the students to ensure their applications were submitted.

Semester Finals:
Final exams will take place from Friday, May 29 - Tuesday, June 2. A special bell schedule will be in place during finals week. Students will take two finals per day with early dismissal each day.
Mon. May 25 - Memorial Day (no school)
Tue. May 26 - Six period day (dismissal at 3:30pm)
Wed. May 27 - 1, 3, 5 block day (dismissal at 3:14pm)
Thur. May 28 - 2, 4, 6 block day (dismissal at 3:14pm)
Fri. May 29 - Semester final for Periods 1 and 2 (9:00am - 1:36pm/lunch 11:00am - 11:30am)
Mon. June 1 - Semester final for Periods 3 and 4 (9:00am - 1:36pm/lunch 11:00am - 11:30am)
Tue. June 2 - Semester final for Periods 5 and 6 (9:00am - 1:36pm/lunch 11:00am - 11:30am)

🎉 AHS Staff Appreciation Week – 3-Day Celebration! 🎉
For the first time, AHS Staff Appreciation Week was extended to three wonderful days of celebration for our amazing teachers and staff.
✨ Day 1: Grab-and-Go Snacks
🧀 Day 2: Nacho Cheese Bar & Fresh Fruits
🌮 Day 3: Taco bar from *Tacos Bravo & Catering* along with generous donations of homemade Alfredo pasta, salads, fruits, and desserts from our wonderful parent community.
Thanks to everyone’s contributions, it turned into a beautiful spread. A special donor appreciation list was displayed on the final day. The school marquee is also displaying a “Thank You” message for the entire month to thank the parent community. Our teachers and staff felt truly valued, appreciated and celebrated, and the week ended on a heartfelt note with a signed “Thank You” message from all staff members to the Staff Appreciation Team. ❤️

AHS "Staff Appreciation Week Celebrations" has been extended to three days for the first time, thanks to our collaboration with the Parent community! Today, we kicked off the celebration by providing "Grab and Go" snacks for all AHS staff members. They are happy and feel appreciated. American High PTSA – Meet Your Staff Series (Session 2 on 4/27/2026)
Our second Meet Your Staff session, hosted by student Aadwin Balla, brought together families, students, and staff for an engaging evening focused on connection and conversation.
This session featured members of the Math Department and school leadership, including Ms. Usha Sangam, Assistant Principal Mr. Spenser Peterson, Ms. Kerr, Ms. Sonia D’Souza, and Math Department Co-Chair Mr. Tony Anderson. Each panelist shared their professional journeys, personal interests, and insights into supporting student success. Thank you so much, Math Department, for participating and making this a success!
The event included a panel discussion, parent-submitted questions, audience Q&A, and a fun lightning round, followed by informal conversations where attendees had the chance to connect more personally with staff.
Thank you to our PTSA for organizing the event and bringing refreshments (samosas and tea), and to everyone who attended and participated. We’re excited to continue building a stronger, more connected school community through this series!

Our first “Meet Your Staff” event on March 30th at the AHS Library was a great success! 🎉

Families had the opportunity to connect with Principal Ms. Sandhya Sharma and counselors Ms. Teri Sorensen, Mr. William Stallworth, and Ms. Mei Yuan Chen. The evening included engaging discussions, thoughtful questions from parents and students, and a fun lightning round that brought lots of smiles. Thanks to AHS PTSA, the principal and the staff for the support in making this event series happen!

A big thank you to our student coordinator, Aadwin Balla, for welcoming everyone, and to all who attended and participated. We’re excited to continue building strong connections within our school community through this series!
