Historic Fremont Ross Track & Field Season Sends Record 18 Athletes to OHSAA State Championships
The 2026 season has been one for the record books for the Fremont Ross boys and girls track and field teams, and this past weekend at the OHSAA Regional Championships, the Little Giants added another chapter to an already historic year.
Under the leadership of first-year head coach Christian Booze, Fremont Ross qualified a school-record 18 student-athletes to the OHSAA State Track and Field Championships at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus. The accomplishment is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment displayed by these athletes throughout the season.
Leading the charge was junior sensation Mason Englund, who was undoubtedly the talk of the regional meet. Englund continued his remarkable season by capturing a Regional Championship in the 110-meter hurdles while once again rewriting the record books.
Not only did Englund break his own school record, but he also set a new Division II state record in the event—an extraordinary achievement that places him among the elite hurdlers in Ohio history.
Englund's weekend wasn't limited to one event. He qualified for the state meet in four events and will be one of the busiest athletes competing in Columbus.
Senior Braxtyn Jordan also delivered a tremendous regional performance. Jordan earned individual state berths in both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and was a key member of the girls 4x200-meter relay team that also qualified for state while breaking the school record.
The Little Giants continued their record-breaking ways in the relay events.
The boys 4x100-meter relay team of Jace Miller, Mason Englund, Stephen Reiter, and Ty Brown qualified for state while setting a new school record with a blazing time of 41.71 seconds.
The girls 4x200-meter relay team of Ashtyn Marsee, Kamaya Jones, Lexi Nelson, and Braxtyn Jordan also etched their names into Fremont Ross history, setting a new school record of 1:41.90 on their way to a state qualification.
In total, Fremont Ross will be represented by 18 student-athletes at the state championships.

What makes this accomplishment even more impressive is the depth displayed by the program. Every point scored throughout the postseason, every practice rep, and every athlete's contribution helped make this historic achievement possible.
Coach Booze has guided the Little Giants to one of the most successful seasons in school history, and the results speak for themselves. From league championships to school records and now a record number of state qualifiers, Fremont Ross has proven it belongs among Ohio's best programs.
The journey isn't over yet.
This weekend, 18 Little Giants will travel to Columbus with the opportunity to compete against the best athletes in Ohio on the sport's biggest stage. They have already made history, but they aren't finished yet.
Good luck to all of our state qualifiers as they represent Fremont Ross at the OHSAA State Championships. No matter the results, these student-athletes have already made the entire Little Giant community proud.
