So this is what all the hubbub is about đŸ€­ Our new compact tractor has arrived at the LEAF Urban Farm, and we’re excited about what it will make possible. From preparing planting areas and moving materials to maintaining the farm throughout the year, the tractor will make many of our workdays more efficient and allow our team and volunteers to focus more time on the work that matters.

The tractor is here, and we’re raising funds to help cover its remaining cost.

Your support of our Grow Together 2026 Annual Fundraiser will help cover the cost of this important piece of farm equipment and strengthen LEAF’s capacity to grow food, support regenerative agricultural practices, conduct soil science research, and provide hands-on educational opportunities.

Every contribution brings us closer to fully funding the tractor and putting this investment to work for years to come. Special thank you to CAFF (CAFF ) for their contribution toward the tractor through the Growing Urban Agriculture grant program made possible by funding through the USDA Farm Service Agency.

Welcome September! We’ve got plenty of events for you. From getting into the dirt at Talkin’ Dirt at the libraries and online, to brushing up on your gardening skills with Gardening Basics, there are plenty of ways to pick up a new skill this month.

Feeling crafty? Our Creative Reuse sessions are a chance to turn everyday materials into something unique and handmade.

And don’t forget our big Fundraiser and Community Concert & Potluck, Grow Together 2026, on Sept. 12!

As usual, our volunteer days are ongoing every Monday, Thursday, and Second Sunday at the LEAF Urban Farm, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., and every First Saturday at the LEAF Community Garden, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.

Meet Mela, LEAF’s demure shepherd. She’s beautiful, she’s stoic, and she’s the Chief Happiness Officer here at LEAF. When you’re on site, you can see her constantly on the move, making her rounds and checking in on everything happening around the farm. If you’re lucky, you might catch her standing still for a peaceful moment to appreciate a particularly good sniff.

And if you’re hoping to win her over, a treat is probably your best bet. đŸŸ
