Friday’s Fact …
This is Arthur Miller, third husband of Marilyn Monroe.

Arthur also was the playwright who wrote our senior class play.

It’s Throwback Thursday … to 1972! David Rimelspach (standing) is using an opaque projector to make a presentation during Mrs. Ethel Smith’s American culture class.

Based on the amount of enthusiasm shown by everyone (except Mrs. Smith), we’re guessing this is the exact day Dave chose to become a farmer instead of a teacher. 😄

Wed.’s “Where Are They Now?” …
Miss Karen Polhemus joined SJHS faculty in 1971 and not only taught, but also oversaw theatrical productions. Soon after that, she married the brother of a ‘73 classmate and became Mrs. Tom Wolf.

For several years Karen lived in Toledo and volunteered at Nature’s Nursery—a wildlife sanctuary that takes in and rehabs injured wildlife. She then moved to Bowling Green where she launched a business—Krytter Sytter, providing in-home pet-sitting.

Over the years Karen has written poetry, which started when she was in first grade. In fact, after hiring an online writing coach, she had several of her poems published and wrote a book.

Today Karen Wolf is 77 and retired, yet occasionally spends time advocating for justice and peace. It’s not uncommon to see her standing on the corner of Secor and Central Avenue in Toledo, holding up anti-war signs. ☮️

We wish Karen good health and more years of helping others through her advocacy.

Monday’s Muse
The year was 1971. Dennis Schwartz (left) and Mark Schrickel were in the SJHS library trying out the latest new technology that was supposed to improve our reading and research skills.

(Hmm … What do we think they were attempting to learn-?? 🤔)

Today, 7/19, we’re sending best 71st birthday wishes to Marie (Rousch) Gumbert. 🎂🎊

Marie lives in Sigel, PA, which is about 2.5 hours southeast of Cleveland. Prior to living in this rural Pennsylvania area, she lived in Columbus, OH after college.

Happy birthday, Marie! 💝

Help us celebrate Bill Bork’s 72nd birthday today, 7/18! 🎉

Bill and his wife, Cindy—permanent residents of Fremont—raised three daughters, and are now enjoying several grandkids.

Here’s wishing Bill a very happy birthday and many more years to enjoy his family. 🎊🎂🎵
