✨ A Sparkleberry Signature Night ✨

Friday night at Hammock Bay was incredible. Truly. And one of my favorite parts of the whole experience was having Abide be part of it with us. I feel so incredibly blessed to have businesses in our community that support what I’m creating and want to help make these experiences even more special for our kids. That kind of community support means so much to me.

And I have to say… seeing the kids walk in dressed up for Lilo & Stitch absolutely made my night. 🥹 Some of our youngest AND our older kids came dressed for the movie, and there was just something so sweet about seeing them completely buy into the fun of the night.

And somehow, in just 2½ hours, we packed in SO much fun…

🌋 We played The Floor is Lava
🌴 Had a limbo competition
🎶 Turned up the island music
🍕 Ate pizza
🍿 Had movie popcorn
💙 Sipped blue Hawaiian drinks
📿 Made bracelets AND keychains
🐚 Created island postcards with real sea glass + real seashells
🎬 And, of course, settled in for Lilo & Stitch

It was loud and silly and creative and full of kids just getting to be kids.

And honestly, magic is still the best word I have for it.

These Sparkleberry Signature Nights are something I really want to continue growing for our families, so I would LOVE to hear what you would like to see next. A movie your kids would love? A theme they’re into right now? Or even something we could add or change that would make these nights even better for your family?

Our very first Maker Art Studio Day! ✨

And what a way to start — ALL BOYS! 💙

Our theme was Wheels + Wonder, and we started by learning about sculptor Louise Nevelson and her incredible assemblage art — how she collected ordinary, discarded pieces of wood and brought them together in unexpected ways to create something completely new.

Then it was their turn.

I gave them piles of wood, wheels, paint, random materials and LOTS of hot glue 😂 and let their ideas take over.

And LOOK at what they created!! An airplane with its own runway, a pizza truck, robots, cities, wild machines and so much more.

They used hot glue guns independently, figured out how to make things stand, changed plans when something didn’t work and just kept building.

This is exactly what I wanted Maker Art Studio Days to be — learning about real artists, using real tools, and giving kids the freedom to take an idea and see where it goes.

And our Sparkleberry values were ALL over this day — creativity, curiosity and confidence.

No example to copy. No matching projects.

Just a bunch of boys with some really big ideas. And a LOT of hot glue. 😂

I honestly don’t even know how to put today into words. ✨

Today was our very first day of Sparkleberry Art Academy and it was more amazing than I ever dreamed it would be.

There was a moment when I just stood there and looked around… Bob Ross was playing on the TV, art was everywhere, the kids were completely wrapped up in what they were creating and I just thought — oh my gosh. This is actually happening. 🥹

We made our own sketchbooks. We learned about warm and cool colors. We talked about how different kinds of lines can show different feelings. We read books, painted, experimented with different mediums and created and created and CREATED.

These kids made at least three pieces of art today and I was absolutely blown away by them.

Even our six-year-olds were so invested in their work. They took their time. They made decisions. They tried things. They changed things. They were PROUD of what they made.

And that right there is so much of what I want this to be.

Process over perfection. Always.

That has been my absolute goal for every child I’ve ever had the privilege of working with — whether it was through academics or now through this amazing little creative art studio of mine. I want children to have the TIME to work through something. To try it, change it, mess it up, figure something out and keep going without feeling like they have to rush toward some perfect finished product.

And today, they had the time to do exactly that. ❤️

But I think my favorite part was watching the things we talked about at the beginning of the day actually show up throughout the day.

We talked about our Sparkleberry core values. We talked about growth mindset. We talked about how art isn’t supposed to look exactly like someone else’s art.

And then I heard them referring back to those things ALL DAY. ❤️

Instead of “mine doesn’t look like theirs,” we talked about how incredibly cool it is that the exact same idea can become something completely different in the hands of another artist.

At the end of the day, everyone got to share their artwork and tell us their favorite part of something THEY created.

It was just… magic.

You probably won’t see a ton of pictures and videos of our Art Academy days here. I really want so much of this experience to belong to the kids and their families. Every Friday, our families will get a portfolio from me filled with the artwork, little moments and pieces of their child’s week that I get to see firsthand.

I have dreamed about creating a place like this for children for so long.

A place where they can make a mess. Try something weird. Change their minds. Take their time. Be proud of an idea simply because it came from them.

And getting to watch my own child have a space where he gets to completely be himself right in the middle of all of it makes this whole thing even sweeter.

I am just SO ridiculously grateful tonight.

Day ONE. 😭✨

And somehow it was even better than the version I had dreamed up in my head. And of course, the biggest thank you to Estelle Studio and Gallery, without this space the processes couldn’t be explored in such depth. 🥰🤍

✨ A little bit of wonderful news!! ✨

We’ve been given the opportunity to open four additional spaces in our Monday Art Studio at The Big Chill — and I’m so excited to be able to welcome a few more children into this sweet little group.

One of the things I love most about this class is how intimate and intentional it is. We will never go above 14 students, because I want every child to have the space, materials, encouragement, and attention to truly create, explore, and feel like they are part of our studio community.

A little more color. A little more magic. ✨

I’ve been spending these last few days painting, cleaning, creating, moving things around (and then moving them around again 😂), and pouring so much love into the spaces where our kids get to create. (Sand dollar on the fence still to come!)

Because I really believe their environment matters. From the happy music, to the bubbles, to the color, it all matters!

I want Sparkleberry to be a place that makes a child curious the minute they walk in. A place that gives them permission to wonder, experiment, make a mess, try something new and see what happens.

And WOW OUR NEW SEASON… this is the week it all begins. 🤍

Monday, our Art Studio at The Big Chill begins.

Thursday is the very first Sparkleberry Art Academy — something I have dreamed about for a long time aka my entire life.

And Friday morning, we finish the week with a full three-hour Maker Day outside at the studio.

Three completely different Sparkleberry experiences.
