Freeport High School NJROTC is a citizenship program that teaches self-reliance, self-control and self-discipline through our curriculum and participation in any of our six extra-curricular teams. While cadets do not incur any military service obligation by participating in Navy JROTC, we do teach the importance of living the Navy's core values: honor, courage and commitment.

Good morning, Parents and Cadets

A few important items for this week:

Apple C***r Donut Fundraiser
Apple C***r Donuts will be delivered 5–7 October. Thank you to all of our cadets, parents, families, and supporters who participated in and supported this fundraiser. Because of your efforts, the NJROTC program was able to raise approximately $2,100. Your continued support of our cadets and program is greatly appreciated.

Homecoming Parade
Of particular importance this week is the Homecoming Parade on Wednesday, 7 October. Participation in the parade is required for all cadets and is a graded event.

Throughout the school year, we only require cadets to participate in two events as an entire unit: the Homecoming Parade and the Annual Military Inspection (AMI). Because these are the only two required full-unit events, it is important that all cadets are present and participate.

Again, thank you to everyone for your continued support of the Freeport High School NJROTC program and for making our fundraiser a success.
Have a great week!

CMC (Ret.) Melvin L. Isom
Senior Naval Science Instructor

Good evening, everyone!
It’s been a busy couple of days for our teams!

Yesterday, the R***e Team competed at Wheeling High School in Chicago. We’re still awaiting the results, but we’re proud of their hard work and dedication!

This morning, Chief Diaz took the Orienteering Team to East Aurora to compete against other Chicago-area schools. I’m excited to share that they brought home the 1st Place Trophy! 🏆 Congratulations to the entire team!

The CO also had the opportunity to promote Cadet Nye Heitz to Petty Officer Third Class. Congratulations, Cadet PO3 Heitz! Great job and well deserved! ⚓️👏

Meanwhile, I had the honor of bringing our Color Guard to two special events today: the centennial celebration marking 100 years of FHS, as well as the Friends Forever Humane Society Car Show.

It was a busy couple of days, but a great opportunity for our cadets to represent FHS and our community!

Attached are some photos from yesterday and today. Enjoy! 🇺🇸🏆⚓️
