Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Staff of Broadstep



I know the last year or so has been tough. Operations of all different businesses continue to be impacted by the pandemic, we have seen changeover in staff and census numbers continue to be flat. While we acknowledge our struggles, this week I am choosing hope – regardless of what lies ahead, we will get through it together.

As we enter into this time of reflection and gratitude, I am so hopeful and excited for the future of Broadstep. I have so much to be thankful for this season.

I am thankful for all of you. You are on the front lines each and every day serving our individuals and helping one another. Our commitment to teaching and delivering care as well as creating a supportive environment for our individuals is unwavering. As a small gesture of appreciation for all you do I would like to say

WE ARE THANKFUL TO HAVE SUCH A WONDERFUL TEAM.

Together, we will accomplish great things in the days, weeks, months, and years that lie before us. I wish you all a wonderful holiday weekend; enjoy your families, friends and some well-deserved rest and relaxation.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Resilience is the ability to repair oneself to resist and positively reorganize one's life despite difficult situations that make one think of a negative outcome.

Human Beings are "programmed" to resist misfortune.

The need to fight has its raison d'être in the inevitability of daily defeats, disappointments and conflicts.

While it's true that certain wounds will never heal completely, it's also true that any negative event can represent an opportunity for superior fulfillment.

In fact, being resilient does not only mean knowing how to resist the pressures of the environment, but it means developing an ability to move forward, despite the crises.

Factors that don't contribute to resilience are:
- emotional factors (abuse, low self-esteem, poor emotional control), interpersonal (rejection of peers, isolation, closure), family (conflicts, poor relationship with parents, communication disorders), developmental (social incompetence).

Factors contributing to resilience are:
- A good temperament, sensitivity, autonomy, combined with social and communicative competence, self-control, and the awareness and confidence that one's achievements depend on one's efforts. The very large social and emotional network
