2023 grad Mason Lei was selected today by the Boston Red Sox. 13 round, pick 394.

From FHS to Rock Valley to University of Illinois-Chicago (Jr season).

🇮🇹🥨 The Pretzels took on Italy and came back with unforgettable memories!

Over the course of 12 incredible days, Freeport High School students experienced history, art, culture, and food firsthand as they traveled across Italy. Along the way, they enjoyed plenty of authentic Italian pizza, pasta, and, of course, lots of gelato!

Our adventure began in Pompeii, where students explored one of the world’s most fascinating archaeological sites. From there, we visited Naples, touring World War II bomb shelters before learning to make authentic pizza in the birthplace of pizza.

From Naples, we traveled to the beautiful island of Capri, where students enjoyed a boat cruise around the island, taking in the breathtaking coastline before cooling off with a swim in the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean Sea.

Next, we traveled to Rome, where students toured St. Peter’s Basilica, the Vatican Museums, and the breathtaking Sistine Chapel. The following day, they stepped back into Ancient Rome while exploring the Colosseum and the Roman Forum.

Continuing north, we visited Assisi before spending time in Florence, where students enjoyed guided tours followed by a free afternoon to experience the city on their own.

On our way to Venice, we stopped in Bologna to visit the oldest university in Europe and explore the city’s historic landmarks. We wrapped up our journey in beautiful Venice with a gondola ride and time to experience the unique sights and charm of the city.

This trip provided students with opportunities to learn far beyond the classroom while creating lifelong memories and friendships. We are incredibly proud of how they represented Freeport High School throughout the journey.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this experience possible. It was an amazing 12 days filled with incredible experiences, amazing food, and memories that will last a lifetime. We are already looking forward to our next adventure!

Exciting progress is being made at Pretzel Stadium! The resurfacing of the Freeport High School track is well underway, and we can't wait to see our student-athletes competing on a refreshed surface this upcoming season.
