We had a small test last night and are happy to announce four promotions. Congrats to Alexander and Ayden on their promotions to yellow belt, their dad Ed to blue belt, and to Alberto to brown belt.
Now dubbed the “Martinez Four,” although only 3 are related. Lol
Thanks to all the judges, helpers, and photographers.
Congratulations everyone. We’re very proud of you all.

Congrats to Ed, Amanda, and Chris on their recent promotions at our dojo.
Ed was promoted to Orange belt, Amanda to green belt, and Chris to brown belt. Thanks to all that helped out.

We aren’t able to hang pictures in our dojo, thus we can’t have a dedicated Shomen, so we’ve always maintained a “portable” one.
I finally got around to updating it, adding pictures of, not only Gigo Funakoshi and Tomosaburo Okano-Soke, but also others who passed away who had a significant influence on me and our dojo. For those who arent familiar, (from the top and left to right) Gichin Funakoshi, Yosh*taka “Gigo” Funakoshi, Tomosaburo Okano-Soke of the Kenkojuku, Toyotaro Miyazaki, Steve Gottwirt, Jimmy Bowden, and Bill Martinez. Bill Martinez was a mentor and good friend of Gottwirt-Shihan’s and mine while I was coming up, and Jimmy Bowden, who passed away last month, was a super sweet guy who I considered a friend and mentor. This is a way for us to never forget and for the next generations of karateka to know who and where we came from.
“Shomen ni rei.”
