Equipment class a week ago. 21 Dec we have an Emergency Oxygen provider class 13:00. If you would like to join us please let us know ASAP. A great class to go along with First Aid and or your Rescue class.

With the snow coming down what a better wat to spend the day watching it from within a warm shop while doing some maintenance for customers. Cylinders need the works as they are do hydrostatic test. The off season is a great time to drop your equipment off for its service, ensuring your ready for that next dive.

During the colder months there are some great classes that can be accomplished like that First Aid / CPR that may need updating, how about Emergency Oxygen provider, Equipment Speciality, Project Aware, Lay Person Airway Management, Enriched Air (NITROX) and more.

On behalf of Tricity & Brunswick SCUBA we would like to introduce our newest Open Water diver Bryan. We spent three wonderfully warm days (in the water at least) at Lake Phoenix completing his course. Every so often we are blessed with a diver that make our job easy, this was one of those occasions. That and the fact the Silvia and I were tag teaming him :-) we would let him get away with much.

Seriously though he picked up on buoyancy right away and that always helps the remainder of the class and skills come easier. I expect we will be seeing a lot of him in the future and I know he already has plans for a trip in the new year.

When you see him about the lake say hi and congratulate him for a job well done.

For the past few days Silvia and I have been working with Paul helping him complete his Open Water course at Lake Phoenix. Tammy, not depicted, already a diver was tagging along with him as great dive buddies do but started having ear issues and sat out the last dives. Paul came with an inquisitive mind, being a pilot, and ready to tackle concepts beyond Open Water from the start. Please congratulate Paul on his accomplishment when you see them at the lake. I am sure we will be seeing them both back soon as they are local folks. Great Job, keep diving and practicing skills.

Over this past weekend at Lake Phoenix we had a great time with great weather bringing in new divers into the aquatic family. Meet Maddie, Billy, Andy and Alan. Joining us was Robert and Scott doing DM stuff. With lots to see and learn it was a busy three days filled with fun and challanges they all met with enthusiasm. I look forward to seeing these young folks in the water soon. If you cross paths with them say hi and congratulations for this awesome achievement.

This weekend at Lake Phoenix we had the pleasure of helping 2 into the diving family. This is Laura and Jack both already planning things to come and visiting exotic locations armed with new skills. Some enter diving with preconceived notions about how hard this or that is going to be. Once they realize that part of our job as an instructor is proving time for them to be comfortable with these new skills the learning increases and anxiety decreases. Yes we show, provide a safe environment and detailed expectations but its in the water and with practice that the magic begins to happen. With each dive buoyancy skills improving, mask skills good to go, the CESA no worries and even the dreaded compass, now understood and getting better. As with everything new continued practice will be needed to stay sharp but with a good foundation I expect we will be seeing Laura and Jack in the water again soon.
