We love having Mr. Olinger on the FMS team!
✨Staff Spotlight✨
This is Ken Olinger’s fourth year teaching 6th grade Science in the Freeland Community School District. For the first 3 years, his classroom was located at Freeland Elementary School, but he is starting out the 2026-2027 school year in the brand new 6th grade wing at Freeland Middle School.
Ken loves the genuine curiosity middle schoolers bring to hands-on science experiments and the incredible support from the staff, “It really feels like a tight-knit family working together to help every student thrive.” Ken's hope for students is that they leave his classroom with a lifelong curiosity about how the world works, the confidence to ask 'why?', and the understanding that making mistakes is just part of the scientific process.
Outside of teaching, Ken loves spending time with his family, whether that’s camping or just watching movies. He also likes diving into a good non-fiction book or DIY project.
Ken enjoys being a part of the Freeland Community because, “Freeland takes immense pride in its schools and community events. It’s wonderful working in a district where families, teachers, and community members genuinely show up to support one another."
