4th graders at Freeland Elementary School start every morning with P2 and use that week's character strength to drive their learning, behavior, and choices all week long.

Building on the theme of student ownership from the 3rd grade, students model their behavior after that week's character strength, while learning how they can be applied outside the classroom (e.g. jobs, teams, friendships, classrooms, clubs)

📚✨ BIG NEWS FROM OUR THIRD GRADERS AND THE PLAYGROUND! ✨📚

What happens when a simple classroom read-aloud sparks a giant wave of inspiration? You get the brand new Freeland Elementary Little Free Library! 💚

This wasn't just a project, it was a true community labor of love. What started as a spark of an idea among our incredible 3rd graders from Mrs. Bowen and Mrs. Quast's class quickly grew into a massive collaboration. From passionate teachers and dedicated school staff to generous community members to Mr. Byrne's high school students, so many hands helped bring this dream to life. 🔨🎨

From start to finish, these students showed us what happens when teamwork meets a love for reading. They didn’t just build a library, they inspired an entire community! 💚

We are beyond thrilled to announce that the library is officially OPEN! 🎉

🏀 Freeland Girls Basketball Youth Camp 🏀

We are excited to announce our annual Freeland Girls Basketball Youth Camp! This camp is open to all girls entering 2nd through 8th grade and has been a proud tradition in our program for the past 15 plus years.

Our four-day camp is designed to help players grow their basketball skills while having fun and building confidence in a positive environment. Each camper will receive an hour and a half of instruction and experience each day that includes:
• Skills and drills
• Game play and competition
• Basketball fundamentals
• Teamwork and leadership opportunities
• Interaction with current Freeland Girls Basketball players and coaches

This is always an incredible opportunity for younger players to learn from our program, improve their game, and become part of the Freeland basketball community.

Players who register by May 29th will receive a camp t-shirt.

We are looking forward to another amazing year of camp and cannot wait to work with all of our future Falcons this summer!

📖 From 3rd Grade Authors to Kindergarten Classrooms! 🌟

Mrs. Cripe’s, Mrs. Trainor’s, and Ms. Jesse’s 3rd graders visited the Freeland Learning Center to share the incredible folktale books they created.

By reading their original stories to our kindergarten students, these amazing authors didn't just practice fluency and build confidence—they helped foster a lifelong love of reading! 🙌❤️

🌟 Stars, Science, and Big Smiles! 🚀

On Thursday, May 28th, our incredible 5th graders hit the road to Flint for an unforgettable day at the Longway Planetarium and Sloan Museum!

From exploring the epic life cycle of stars in the planetarium dome to getting hands-on in Sloan’s Science Discovery Zone, Historical Galleries, and makerspace, our students were fully immersed in learning. In fact, the buzzing conversations didn't stop all the way back on the bus ride home!🚌💨

✨ A HUGE shoutout to the Freeland PTO! ✨ This amazing day was made possible by their generous support, covering the admission for every single fifth grader. We are so grateful for our community!

Big News for our 4th Grade Writers! ✍️🏛️

We are so proud of the students in Mrs. St. Charles’s and Mrs. Stitt’s classes! Our 4th graders recently participated in a statewide essay contest answering the prompt, "If I was a state representative, I would..."

We are thrilled to announce that two of our very own, Evelyn and Isabella, were named winners! During our field trip to the Capitol in April, both classes had the honor of meeting Representative Bierlein. To celebrate this achievement, Representative Bierlein’s office treated both classes to a pizza party as their prize.

Congratulations, Evelyn and Isabella, on your hard work!

Today was described by many students at FES as the "BEST DAY EVER!" Students got to jump on bounce houses sponsored by the PTO for reaching the fall fundraiser goal, and topped it off with a DJ during recess time for earning their school marble jar reward for spring testing season! We are so proud of each of our Falcons!

Mrs. Eickhoff’s class, families, and staff (Even Blue 🐾) had a great time celebrating a successful school year at Midland’s Miracle Field. They had a great time in the kids vs parents kickball game and playing on the adaptive playground 💚
