UPDATE: We already have 14 veterans signed up for our Veterans Day celebration!

Last year, we welcomed nearly 30 veterans, and we would love to welcome even more this year! Thank you to the families, students, staff, and veterans who have already responded. Our Leadership Class is working hard to make this year’s assembly extra special.

Freeland High School will honor our veterans on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. All veterans are welcome! ❤️🤍💙

Students, do you have a veteran in your family or someone special in your life who has served? Invite them to spend the morning with you as we recognize their service!

The morning begins with veterans arriving at 7:30 AM, followed by a flag raising ceremony with our band, breakfast, and a 9:00 AM assembly with our high school students. Please see the flyer for the full schedule.

Please submit an RSVP for each veteran attending. This helps our Leadership Class plan for guests, create our guest list, and send formal invitations. Family members and friends are welcome to complete the form on a veteran’s behalf.

🎃 Want to help make an event extra special and put a smile on a child’s face?

The Freeland PTO is looking for additional trunks for its 3rd Annual Trunk or Treat at Freeland Elementary School on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 5:30 to 7 PM!

Businesses, families, staff members, students, school teams, and community groups are invited to host a trunk. Gather your friends, teammates, or coworkers, decorate your trunk, and help create a fun evening for the roughly 500 children who attend each year!

Two food trucks will also be on site.

♟️ Did you know Freeland High School and Freeland Middle School had a chess club? Did you know we joined the Rookly Chess League this year? Our Falcons are now competing online against students from around the country!

Last night was their first competition, and in true Freeland Falcon fashion, they came ready to play! Our team earned FIRST PLACE with 18 individual game wins! 💚💛

First match. First place. Way to go, Falcons!

Our Freeland Middle School and High School Chess Team opened the season yesterday with a FIRST PLACE finish in its first Rookly Online League match, earning 18 individual game wins!

Check out these student accomplishments:

🏆 High School
• Bruce Hubbard: 4 wins and 1 loss
• Christian Stutzman: 5 wins and 1 loss
• Avery Price: Played great in her first competition and contributed a win to the team total!

🏆 Middle School
• Vincent DeLeon: 4 wins and 1 loss
• Cutler Kutchinski: 4 wins and 2 losses

Here’s another thing to know: You don’t have to be a chess expert to join! Whether you’re learning how the pieces move or ready to showcase your talent, there’s a place for you. Mr. Beattie is excited to share his love of chess with MS and HS students of ALL skill levels!

Learning to win with money starts with thoughtful choices! 💚💛

Seniors in Ms. Clark’s Combined Math classes are setting financial goals and thinking about their futures. At Freeland High School, we take financial literacy seriously because these lessons can make a difference long after graduation.

We want students to understand trade-offs and opportunity costs, learn from the experiences and mistakes of others, and recognize that people at every income level can take steps toward better money management. From short-term goals to long-term planning, we encourage students to apply what they learn beyond the classroom.

That commitment extends across subjects. Here are just a few examples:

• Ms. Clark’s Combined Math students are creating financial goals.
• Students in Algebra 2 analyzed stocks this week.
• Ms. Keefer’s Home Economics classes also help students build financial literacy and connect these lessons to everyday life.
• Mr. Barriger incorporates financial decision-making into Financial Literacy, Entrepreneurship, Accounting, and Marketing and Advertising.
• Mr. Beattie’s Senior Capstone students will explore insurance, financial planning, and other topics that prepare them for life after high school.

These are just a few of the many staff members helping our students build these skills. Thank you to our team for making financial literacy a priority and helping students understand how today’s choices can shape tomorrow’s opportunities!

Mr. Byrne is the recipient of a $10,000 SME PRIME Sustainability Award from the SME Education Foundation to support Freeland High School’s manufacturing and engineering programs!

The award provides $5,000 for equipment and supplies and $5,000 for professional development. These investments can make a difference well beyond this school year. Equipment can serve future classes, and teacher training brings knowledge and skills into the classroom for years to come.

For our students, that means more opportunities to learn by doing, solve problems, build confidence, and discover interests that could lead to college, skilled trades, or careers in manufacturing and engineering. The skills they develop today can open doors long after graduation.

Thank you, Mr. Byrne, for investing your time and effort in our students’ futures, and thank you to the SME Education Foundation for supporting these opportunities!

Help us spread the word! Freeland High School will honor our veterans at our Veterans Day celebration on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. All veterans are welcome!

On September 25, Freeland High School celebrated the life and accomplishments of Dolly Parton with a little “9 to 5” joy! 🎶☀️

Our thoughtful Student Council students surprised staff with a Sunshine Cart full of cold drinks. Some of Dolly’s hits played during the celebration, and many enjoyed the music as they stopped by. 🎤🥤

Thank you, Student Council, for spreading kindness and showing our staff how much they’re appreciated. It was a nice surprise that made today extra special! 💛

🚀 STEM in Action!

Ms. Clark’s STEM students are putting math and science to work as they study projectile motion alongside their quadratic equations unit!

Students are exploring how launching a projectile at different angles impacts its path and the distance it travels. It’s a great hands-on way to see how the math they’re learning in the classroom connects to real-world physics.

Great work by Ms. Clark and our STEM students bringing learning to life! 📐🚀
