πŸŽ‰ LET’S CELEBRATE ONE OF OUR OWN! πŸŽ‰

On Monday, Ms. Neal received the prestigious 2026 Horace Mann Excellence in Education Award! πŸ’šπŸ€

A special thank you and shout out to Hughes Robinson Financial and Horace Mann for making this recognition possible. Mallory and Marc from Hughes Robinson Financial joined us to present the award to Ms. Neal in front of our entire staff. It was an incredible moment as she was recognized with a standing ovation from her Freeland colleagues!

This is such a well deserved honor for an amazing educator and incredibly dedicated individual who works tirelessly to make Freeland High School a better place for our students, staff, and community.

Ms. Neal brings energy, positivity, laughter, and a passion for students into everything she does. Whether she is creating meaningful experiences for students, leading project based learning, supporting her colleagues, serving on our instructional team, sponsoring Student Council, or simply stepping up whenever something needs to get done, Ms. Neal makes a difference every single day.

We are truly fortunate to have Ms. Neal as part of the Freeland Community School District. Her dedication to our students, staff, and school community represents so much of what makes Freeland special.

Thank you again to Hughes Robinson Financial and Horace Mann, and especially Mallory and Marc, for recognizing outstanding educators and celebrating the people who make a difference in our schools.

Please help us congratulate Ms. Neal, Freeland Community School District’s 2026 Horace Mann Excellence in Education Award recipient!

Congratulations, Ms. Neal! The standing ovation said it all. This recognition is so well deserved! πŸ’šπŸ€πŸ¦…

We love seeing one of our very own, Caeleb Varney, featured in this great article from Bridge Michigan!

Caeleb’s story is a perfect example of why we work so hard to encourage our students to explore all of the opportunities available to them after high school. College can be a great path, but it is just one of many paths to a successful and rewarding future.

Through the Tri-County Trades High School Lineman Program, Caeleb was able to spend his mornings at Freeland High School and his afternoons receiving hands-on career training. He graduated in May with both his high school diploma and certification to become a lineman, allowing him to step directly into the workforce and begin building a great career.

There are so many great opportunities out there for our kids, whether that means a four-year university, community college, skilled trades, career and technical education, the military, or going directly into the workforce. Our job is to help them discover the path that fits their talents, interests, and goals.

We are incredibly proud of Caeleab and love seeing one of our own showing what is possible when students are given opportunities to explore their future!

Great read and a great reminder that success after high school can take many different paths!

πŸ‘ Congratulations, Caeleb! We are proud of you! πŸ”§βš‘

The Freeland Theatre Executive Board spent the past week at the Michigan Educational Theatre Association (META) Leadership Camp at Oakland University, joining student leaders from across the state to prepare for an exciting year ahead.

Throughout the week, students participated in leadership and theatre workshops, collaborated on initiatives for the upcoming school year, and explored ways to strengthen advocacy and inclusion within their program. They also had the opportunity to network with theatre leaders from schools across Michigan, sharing ideas and building connections that will inspire their work throughout the year.

Representing Freeland Theatre at this year's camp were Executive Board members Sadie Moeller, Cate Cole, Haylee McIntosh, and Tesla Provoast, accompanied by theatre advisor Ms. Murray. The group returned energized, full of fresh ideas, and excited to help make this year one of our best yet.

Interested in being part of Freeland Theatre? Students in grades 6–12 are invited to attend our annual Kickoff Event on Tuesday, September 1, from 2:45–3:45 p.m. in the auditorium. Come meet new friends, have some fun, and discover all the ways you can get involved in theatre this year. We can't wait to see you there!
