Playground Theatre Project performs original plays concerning violence, bullying, drug and alcohol dependency, racism, sexism, human rights, and su***de. We believe in a peer to peer philosophy, in other words, our company of actors are always the same age as their audience. PTP does not believe is preaching to people about right and wrong. By bringing in their peers, we give our audiences a chanc

e to explore the consequences of their actions in a comfortable environment. Our company members are well versed in the subjects and characters they are portraying and we are always open for discussions with audience members about the subject matter and problem solving ideas. MISSION:

To educate, empower, and enlighten the community through multimedia and performing arts focusing on equality, acceptance, understanding, and recognition of the dignity of every human being. VISION:

The Playground Theatre Project is an innovative theatre resource that pushes the envelope to create realistic and relatable material. Our alternative approach to theatre includes the development of cutting edge techniques to build and perform artistic works. Our success comes from the collaboration of professional adults and socially conscious young people. The rigorously trained company members are integral to new works by inspiring the stories needed to be told, workshopping ideas, and developing the pieces so they are truthful to the people we are trying to reach. We work on a peer-to-peer level to avoid one group preaching to another; instead, we are equals talking about consequences of our actions. As a result, the Playground Theatre Project not only produces compassionate actors and writers, but leaders in the community who empathize with those around them. One of the commitments we make is to bring little known and pressing issues to light in order to invoke positive change. The Playground Theatre Project is willing to be the voice for those who are unable to stand up for themselves. Our goal is to challenge convention while educating, empowering, and enlightening the community around us. Since our work is always current, we welcome the chance to customize our workshops to fit the need of schools, libraries, religious institutions, human service groups, and other organizations. Our minds and creativity are always open to new ideas.

Hello friends. As some of you know, since 2015, I’ve been touring a show I wrote and directed called Lost Angels i’ve been quite fortunate to receive many great reviews and a very positive reaction from its audiences through the years. More importantly, the messages that I have received concerning the show’s impact have been about as powerful as you could imagine. Recently, we performed at a teen summit targeting su***de prevention for the New Jersey Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics. The managing director reached out to me the very next day telling me that after the show, many young people came to her looking for help. She told me the predominant comment was, “I really didn’t know what it is I’m going through or how to express what I’m feeling, but after seeing this play, I know exactly what I’m going through and I want to do something about it.” I have received messages like this before, but never on such a grand scale as on that day. The show deals with many issues, bullying, racism, sexism, assault, and drug and alcohol abuse. We know in every audience we have there are going to be multitudes of people who are affected by one or many of these issues. If our show creates awareness, or incites change in any way, or even just lets young people know that they are not alone, then every painstaking moment creating and rehearsing this show is worth it.

Join us at the beautiful Vogel theater at the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, New Jersey for a rare public performance. This show means a lot to me and your support means the world to me.
