Every Goddard class has their own schedule, but here’s a peek of how a day can look:

9am: Morning meeting ☀️
Songs, check-ins and questions spark curiosity and connection.

11am: Outdoor Learning & Play 🍃
Climb, dig, build and explore the natural world.

12pm: Lunch! 🍎
Time to refuel and connect.

3pm: Learning Centers 🎨
Choice-driven play builds independence and imagination.

The thing about a Goddard preschooler is they’re going to be curious. Keep the questions coming 👏

Personally, we’d hire them as videographers 📹

Kindergarten readiness can show up in everyday moments, not just big milestones. A few signals to notice:

1. They’re building confidence to try things independently. Examples: walking into a room first, asking for help, or giving something new a try.

2. They’re starting to recognize the letters in their name, even if they’re not reading just yet.

3. They’re showing care and responsibility at home. This could include things like helping pack a bag, feeding a pet, putting away toys, or getting through part of their routine with a little more ease.

Every child grows at their own pace - and readiness looks different for every family. Their preschool teachers can be a great partner in noticing strengths, celebrating progress, and helping you think through what comes next.

Teaching little ones about gratitude through storytelling is an excellent way to help them understand the concept. At The Goddard School - Freehold - Rt 9 we love books about gratitude. Here are some of our favorites!

Ages 0-2:
📚 Thanks A Lot written by Raffi and illustrated by Jaime Kim
📚 My Heart Fills with Happiness written by Monique Gray Smith and illustrated by Julie Flett

Ages 3-6:
📚 Gracias/Thanks written by Pat Mora and illustrated by John Parra

Gratitude is a complex topic for little ones to understand that goes deeper than just saying, “thank you.” Watch this video clip from The Goddard School® Chief Adademic Officer, Dr. Lauren Loquasto, as she explains what it means when children really understand this concept. Then read this great blog post on The Goddard School® website for age-appropriate ways to teach children about gratitude: https://bit.ly/3SItjJn

Sensory bags are amazing tools that help your little ones learn about the world around them through their senses. As they poke and squish the bag, they’re developing fine-motor, language, cognitive and social-emotional skills.

Check out The Goddard School® website to make your own fall-themed sensory bag: https://bit.ly/3AC6SM1

Get your child excited for Halloween by helping them make their own costume this year! Grab some simple supplies like cardboard boxes and paint and get creative together!

👻 Blocks
Paint a large cardboard box in your child’s favorite color. Cut holes for their head and arms. Then glue plastic or Styrofoam cups to the front of the box and you’ve created your own building block!
👻 Crayon
Dress your child in their favorite color from head to toe. Then buy a party hat in a matching color (or make your own using construction paper) and your child is transformed into their favorite color crayon.
👻 Marathon runner
Is your toddler’s favorite pastime running? Dress them up in their comfiest running outfit and then print out a number to stick on their shirt — now they’re ready to run a candy marathon.
👻 Race car (or any wheeled vehicle)
Transform cardboard boxes into something with wheels! The best thing about “boxtumes” is they’re adaptable, which means you can make them to fit your child’s physical needs.

Share a picture of your child’s costume in the comments!
