Tonight is opening night of 2024 Opera Scenes! Join us tonight or tomorrow at 7:00, or Saturday at 2:00 for a presentation of works by Purcell, Britten, and Bernstein by members of the SOTA body. Tickets are available at the Fredonia Opera House for $10 ($5/$8 for students/seniors). This is not something you will want to miss!

Attention Collaborative Pianists: Exciting new opportunity for Graduate Students in Opera Coaching and Vocal Collaboration starting in fall 2024!

Fredonia School of Music has recruited an outstanding class of Master’s students in Vocal Performance for fall 2024, fueled by the continued success of Hillman Opera, critically acclaimed recent collaborations with the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (BPO) and the Western New York Chamber Orchestra (WNYCO), and the success of our students (including a 2024 District Winner in the Metropolitan Opera’s Laffont Competition; a 2024 Studio Artist with Wolf Trap Opera; and a First Place Winner of the 2024 colORCHESTRA Concerto Competition).

Fredonia School of Music is excited to be able to offer a new Assistant Coach position to qualified Graduate Students in the Collaborative Piano Program. The student in this position will gain hands on professional experience working side-by-side with our faculty coach on the fall Hillman Opera production, on upcoming collaborations with the BPO and WNYCO, and in collaboration with Master’s voice students in recitals and guest artist masterclasses.

It is not too late to audition! We’ve updated our audition repertoire requirements to reflect this new opportunity in the Voice Area and would be delighted to welcome you to Fredonia’s campus on March 23 for an audition for this opportunity. If you are not available to audition on March 23, please contact Dr. Anne Kissel at [email protected] to arrange an alternate audition date.

Tonight we honor the incredible Helen Tinch Williams ('60) with the inaugural recital in her name, featuring Fredonia School of Music former student Nia Drummond in An Evening of Classical and Jazz with Fredonia Collaborative Piano alum, Matt Marco, and faculty members Nick Weiser, Kieran Hanlon, and John Bacon.
