๐ค Competition Robotics is making some serious progress!
Our teams have been busy doing what engineers do best, building, testing, finding problems, making changes, and trying again. Their robots are starting to look very different as each team develops its own ideas for tackling this yearโs VEX IQ challenges.
This week brought plenty of opportunities to test those ideas on the field. We saw lifts reaching higher, mechanisms being redesigned, drivers learning what their robots can actually do, and more than a few designs being taken apart so they could come back better. And, of course, there was still time for a little creativity with the spare VEX parts!
One of the biggest things we're working on now is helping students recognize that the finished robot is only part of the story. Every sketch, failed idea, adjustment, test, and redesign is part of the engineering process. Teams are learning to slow down and document that process in their Engineering Design Notebooks so they can clearly communicate their thinking to competition judges.
There is still a lot of work ahead, but that's exactly where we should be. These students aren't just building robots, they're learning to design, troubleshoot, collaborate, communicate, and keep going when the first idea doesn't work.
We can't wait to see where all of this experimenting takes them!
