To All Parents and Students,

Mr. Tarr is not feeling well this evening, so one of his Black Belts, Corwin, will be teaching classes tonight while he stays home to rest. Please show Corwin the same respect and courtesy that you would show Mr. Tarr during class.

As we head into the fall season, a stomach bug and other illnesses are already making their way through the community. If you or your child are feeling sick, please remain at home until you are fully recovered. The best way to help prevent the spread of colds, viruses, and other illnesses is to keep sick children home until they are feeling better.
We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your cooperation, understanding, and support. Thank you for helping us keep our students and families healthy.

Here is our October calendar. Please read it carefully.

We have two grappling sessions scheduled this month:

Saturday, October 10 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM
Sunday, October 18 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

We also have three open Saturday classes this month to help students prepare for the UPMAC National Finals, which will be held on November 6-7 at Crossroads Church.

We are looking for scorekeepers for the finals. If you are available to help, please let Mr. Tarr know.

If your child will be competing at the finals, please turn in their registration paperwork and payment as soon as possible so we can prepare their competitor cards before the event.

If you have any questions, please ask when you come to class.

Get ready for something different! The awards at this year's Nationals are a first for UPMAC. We've never featured these awards at any of our events before! 🏆🥋

The UPMAC National Finals will be held November 6-7, 2026. This is a 2-day event.

Pre-Registration Deadline: October 1 - November 1, 2026.

Congratulations to all of our athletes who competed today at the DeCore Elite Nationals! Every competitor earned a Top 4 finish in their division.
A special shoutout to Rylen, Enzo, Paisley, Maddox, Corwin, Beckett, Audrey, Luke, Jayce, Dakota, William, Quentin, and Vincent for their hard work, determination, and outstanding performances.

To All Parents & Students:
If your child is interested in trying grappling with Doug Benavides but isn’t quite sure whether they’ll enjoy it, Doug is offering one free introductory class this Sunday, September 20th, from 2–4 PM.

This free session is available only to students who have not previously attended any grappling classes at the dojo. If your child would like to participate, please let Mr. Tarr know when you come to class.

We’re open all week during the Tomato Show — come early unless you enjoy the sport of “parking spot hunting.”
The public is welcome to stop in, walk through the front door, grab a seat on either side, and watch class. If you’d like to set up your free introductory lesson, just ask for Mr. Tarr.

For our current families (and anyone signing up): our back room is now a full workout space. Feel free to use all the equipment at NO EXTRA COST while your kid(s) train. Same rules as the dojo — no shoes, food, or drinks on the mats. Water bottles can hang out on the back-room table.

We’re excited to meet new people and show how karate keeps you fit and teaches you to protect yourself.

We will be open for normal classes tomorrow (Labor Day).
We will also be open during the Tomato show as well, please come early to find a parking spot and we welcome anyone who would like to come in and watch a class to see what they are missing. :)
