In addition to our field trip, lots of great work was competed on Tuesday of Band Camp 2026! Team building activities such as low brass leap frog and apple batting took place throughout the day. We finished drill for the second chart of show 1 then put music and drill together that same day! Don’t forget to check out all of our superfruits from our daily costume contest as well!

Tuesday of band camp included a change of pace with a fun filled field trip to The Infield in Lexington! A few students took a swing at the batting cages, several played a leisurely game of mini golf, and many got behind the wheel on the go kart track! There was even a race that included all three staff members of the FHSMB, which director do you think won the race?

2026 Band Camp Monday Highlights! ✨
- Fruit Salad Fashion: Members dressed up as their team’s fruit, and we made a giant fruit salad! 🥝🫐
- Instrument Art: During a water break, we got creative with our instruments and made fruit-themed art. Can you tell what our winning designs were this year? 🎨🎺📯
- Kona Ice Treats: We enjoyed all the fruity flavors of Kona Ice! A huge thank you to konaiceofnewarksheridan for being a part of our camp each year! 🍧
- Show 1 Dance: Our dance leaders got back to work making the Show 1 dance and taught it all to the band yesterday, and their teaching from pre-camp was put to work as we paraded to dinner! 💃
- Dinner & Line Dancing: During dinner, Cornerstone Community Church gave everyone a chance to let loose with some music and line dances. Thank you to all the staff who pulled off this special treat! 🎶
- Evening Wind-Down: We ended the evening with a water balloon toss team-building activity and learned more drill for Show 1! 💧✨

Be sure to come out this Friday at 7 PM to the football practice field for our preview show! 🎷

We’re officially halfway through Pre-Camp!

Our leadership team did a fantastic job teaching our new members how to march on Monday. Tuesday dealt a wild card with thunderstorms off and on all day, but we prevailed and made it a super productive indoor workday! Today, we were able to put all 20 sets of pregame on the field in just over an hour and a half—with multiple full run-throughs before heading to lunch!

On the docket for tomorrow: Show 1 drill!

We couldn’t be happier with how the 2026 FHSMB is starting the season!

The countdown is over—pre-camp starts tomorrow! We have a full day ahead and can’t wait to see our percussion, new members, leadership team, and seniors throughout the day.

To all of our band families: please join us for a booster meeting tomorrow (7/20) at 5:30 PM in the band room.

Much work has happened over the last few weeks to get us ready for day one! Mr. Smith is officially up to speed on assistant director duties, drill is written for pregame and our first show, our percussion section has been putting in serious work at their percussion conditioning sessions, and the leadership team enjoyed lunch with the directors at Burrata courtesy of the Music Boosters! Thanks to the help of Mr. Stan Miller, the practice field is ready for another band season, and despite a power outage at the school this weekend Mr. Hollenbaugh got the band room completely set up for the full band!

Finally, a huge thank you to everyone who participated in the July blood drive. Because of your donations, the American Red Cross made a contribution to our Music Boosters, which directly funded the recent upgrade to our band tower and ensured our first aid kit for the band is fully stocked and ready to go!

Get lots of rest, and drink plenty of water through the week! Don’t forget to eat a good, healthy breakfast in the mornings too! We can’t wait to see you!
