FCPS’ social media channels are not intended to be a general public forum covering all topics. FCPS does not agree with or endorse every comment or link that individuals post on its social media pages. We ask that all comments, private messages, and other interactions on FCPS social media accounts be respectful and courteous. We reserve the right to remove or hide content that includes, but is not limited to:

◾individually identifiable student or personnel information;
◾copyrighted material posted without permission;
◾confidential material;
◾spam, advertising, or commercial solicitations or information;

Hands-on learning is in FULL effect at Preschool! 🐧
From Ms. Phillips' class using a peeler to peel fresh apples and turn them into applesauce to Mrs. Proctor’s class whipping up their very own playdough on the spot, our Penguins are learning by DOING! 🙌
These hands-on experiences bring learning to life as students explore, create, practice new skills, and discover how to do things for themselves. Our Penguins are proving that some of the best learning happens when little hands get busy! 💙🐧

If you are a member of the Fredericksburg business community, a faith-based or community support group, nonprofit, or other local organization, we invite you to join us at our upcoming Superintendent Community Roundtable.

• On Thursday, October 22, from 8-10:30 AM, Fredericksburg City Public Schools will be hosting a Superintendent Community Roundtable at Walker-Grant Center, located at 210 Ferdinand Street, Fredericksburg, VA 22041.
• The topic is "AI in the Classroom: Pros & Cons". Breakfast will be served.
The Superintendent's Community Roundtable advises Dr. Catlett on what the community is thinking and wanting to know from the division.
• Join us for a community conversation about finding the right balance. Together, we’ll explore appropriate guardrails for AI, screen time, and academic integrity, while considering the perspectives of students, families, and teachers. We’ll also look at how AI can be used positively in the classroom to empower teachers, strengthen instruction, and better meet the needs of every student.

Community Connections Night was a Success! ❤️🤝
Wednesday evening was filled with meaningful connections, smiling faces, and community spirit! 🚒 We were thrilled to welcome our local fire department back, several community partners, and our Preschool Penguins families for a night of connection and collaboration.

We are so grateful to everyone who showed up, shared their time, and continues to pour into our students and families. It truly takes a village, and we are so lucky to have everyone surrounding our Penguins! 🐧💙

🚒🔥 Okay, just a few MORE Fire Safety Week snapshots because these moments are simply too good NOT to share! 🧯❤️
We’re also shining a spotlight on our dedicated School Officer, JP who checks to make sure our building is safe and our Penguins are greeted warmly by him every day! 👮‍♂️🐧 We are so grateful for the people who look out for our students, support our staff, and help make our school a safe place to learn and grow.

🚒❤️ Our Week Wrapped up with a Special Visit! 🧑‍🚒
Yesterday, our Preschool Penguins welcomed our local firefighters for a special visit, and what a memorable experience! Our firefighters brought Engine 1, the ladder truck, and an ambulance for our students to explore. 🚒🚑
Students were in awe as they got an up-close look at the equipment, learned more about the important work firefighters do, and listened to valuable information about fire safety and staying safe in an emergency. Who knows how many future firefighters were inspired yesterday?! 🧑‍🚒✨

A HUGE thank-you to our local fire department for taking the time to visit and make learning come alive for our students. We are so grateful for our community helpers and the amazing partners who pour into our schools! ❤️🔥

🚒🔥 Fire Safety Week at Preschool 🧯

For National Fire Prevention Week October 4–10, our penguins had a week full of important learning as we focused on fire safety! ❤️ Students practiced stop, drop, roll and cover, learned how to dial 911, and talked about what to say when calling for help. We also explored the important role of firefighters, fire safety rules, and how to stay safe in an emergency.
Through hands-on practice, meaningful conversations, and engaging instruction, our students are building the knowledge and confidence they need to help keep themselves and others safe. 🧑‍🚒 Safety starts with learning! 🚒❤️
