Meet your music teacher! 🎼 🎸 🎹

Amir Wright is starting his third year as music teacher here at TLC Prep. When he’s not teaching music or playing music he’s on adventures. You can find him outside enjoying nature, riding his longboard, playing basketball or laying in a field.

Why did he start teaching at TLC Prep?
“I became a teacher to help inspire and to spread the message of God’s love to the youth through music. With a smile and love for music, I pray to make a difference by being different.”

Mr. Amir also composes his own music and you may see him performing all over the DMV area. You can find him on Apple Music, Spotify, and YouTube.

Meet your Art Teacher! 🖼️ 🎨 🫟

Vera Tourinho has taught art at TLC Prep for 17 years and counting! She is well known and loved by the students who are able to let their creative side shine while making beautiful messes in her art class.

Ms. Vera also chose TLC Prep as the school to send her children to because she wanted them to have a good foundation at a school that taught great values and had a healthy family environment. She also appreciates how every teacher at TLC Prep does their best to make their students feel seen and special.

Cooking 🥘 , crafting 🧶 and traveling ✈️ are some of Ms. Vera’s favorite things to do. If you share one of her favorites let her know in the comments!

Our students are enjoying the fresh and clean 4 square courts during recess thanks to the generosity of the Campos family!

They came out and painted our parking lot and 4 square courts before school began this week.

Meet your 5th and 6th grade teacher! 🌼🍫🦋

Welcome the newest teacher to the TLC Prep family, Ruth Hernandez!

Mrs. Hernandez is starting her 8th year of teaching here at TLC Prep. She brings a background that includes studies in Psychology, experience in Social Work, and tax preparation.
These experiences have strengthened her passion for helping students learn, grow, and succeed.

Outside the classroom, Mrs. Hernandez enjoys reading, spending time outdoors, learning new skills, volunteering, and making lasting memories with her family. Her faith is at the center of her life, and she finds great joy in preaching God’s Word, serving others, and sharing the message of salvation with compassion and love.

Mrs. Hernandez is studying to graduate with her Masters in Education Spring of 2027. 🎓

Meet your Kindergarten teacher! 🎒 🌳 🛝

For over 20 years, Erica Norman has been teaching and primarily working with young children. She enjoys helping students build strong foundations in reading, writing, and math while also encouraging creativity, curiosity and kindness.

Whether exploring outdoors, playing on the playground, or engaging in classroom learning, Ms. Erica strives to make learning meaningful, memorable, and fun while building strong relationships with both students and their families.

Outside of school, she enjoys reading, spending time with family, and trying new vegan recipes.

Her favorite Bible verse is “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13
