The HCA Running Club plans to meet EACH THURSDAY (except Holy Thursday, 4/2, and 4/9 due to Easter Break) in the "coned-off blacktop area near the elementary wing of the school" (in front of the school, where we held running club last year) from 4:00pm to 5:00pm each week. The training will be tailored to prepare for the one-mile event; 1/4-mile or 1/2-mile participants are welcome to come out too (pickup from Aviat is available). Bring a water bottle, change into comfortable clothing and running shoes, and have a great attitude! Because we only meet once per week, I have attached a training plan to keep your student active throughout the week!

National Sibling Day at Holy Cross Academy
At Holy Cross Academy, siblings share more than just hallways—they share laughter, support, and a special bond that brightens our school community. National Sibling Day gave us the perfect chance to celebrate the brothers and sisters who walk through our doors each morning, cheering each other on and lifting each other up. Whether they’re holding hands at drop‑off, giving a quick wave across the cafeteria, or proudly posing together in their Crusader blue, our students truly love their siblings. Their joy reminds us that family is one of God’s greatest gifts, and we’re blessed to see that love in action every day at HCA.

Showing compassion of the Samaritan, theme for 2026 World Day of the Sick

The Holy See Press Office releases the theme for the 34th World Day of the Sick to be marked on 11 February 2026, “The compassion of the Samaritan: loving by bearing the pain of the other”.“The compassion of the Samaritan: loving by bearing the pain of the other” is the theme chosen by Pope Leo XIV for the next World Day of the Sick marked annually on 11 February. The Dicastery for Promoting Integral Human Development released the theme on Friday 26 September through the Holy See Press Office.

The theme centers on the Gospel figure of the Samaritan, who demonstrates love by caring for the suffering man who fell in with robbers. It highlights a key dimension of love for one’s neighbor: love must be expressed through concrete acts of closeness, by taking on the suffering of others — especially those who are ill, and often also vulnerable due to poverty, isolation, or loneliness.

The Dicastery writes, in the information provided for the World Day, that “the World Day of the Sick, established by St. John Paul II in 1992, offers a privileged moment of prayer, spiritual closeness, and reflection for the entire Church and for civil society, who are all called to recognize the face of Christ in our sick and vulnerable brothers and sisters. Like the Good Samaritan that bent down to help the injured man along the road, the Christian community is also called to stop and help those who suffer and be evangelical witnesses of closeness and service to the sick and most vulnerable.”
