Highlights from GSA - Thanks to Miles, Megan, Tammy, Wondo, and Dipa for a job well done! We had a great time a bumped into many UMW Alumni who are now accomplished in their academic careers. I also had an opportunity to attend talks and presentations by my past advisors/mentors with my students - this was indeed quite a rewarding experience!

Sea Level Rise Interactive Map 11/01/2015

Cool!

Are there Sea Horses in the Bay? This question is common in EESC 210 Oceanography. Way cool!

Our oyster grower, Kevin Sullivan, found his 3rd lined sea horse hanging out in his cages on the Miles River! This is the only species of sea horse found in the Chesapeake Bay. Oysters are not only great for filtering the water, but provide habitat for creatures like the sea horse!

Virginia Institute of Marine Science - How big is the Bay? 10/04/2015

Interesting discussion on the classification of Estuaries. Of course, I'll argue that our Bay is the biggest and best example of a perfect estuary by strict definition!

Virginia Institute of Marine Science - How big is the Bay? Chesapeake Bay is certainly the largest estuary in the United States, but how does it rank globally?
