Our students and horses showed up and showed out this morning! ❤️

I’m sure some people question why we take our adoptable or program horses to shows. We do it because it builds awareness of what a rescue horse actually is.

For us, that looks like a lot of different things. It might be a horse seized by animal control for neglect or starvation. It might be a horse surrendered because a private owner could no longer care for him. It might be a soft, accredited landing for a racehorse ending his career and starting a new one. There are many faces to rescue work, and we’ve had them all.

Today, two of our students took two of our adoptable horses to a show at Hazelwild Farm Equestrian Center and it’s exactly why we do this. Taking adoptable and program horses to shows of different disciplines and levels shows people what these horses can go on to do. It helps smash the idea that something is wrong with every rescue horse.

We love getting to show off our Thoroughbreds after their racing careers. We also love taking a horse who came to us at a body score of 1.5, seized for neglect, and showing what proper care can do for him.

For us, showing was never about ribbons. It’s about education, and about changing what people think a rescue horse looks like.

We have LOADS of manure, some quite old that's been turned over many times!
We'll load for free, bring whatever size truck or trailer you want to fill!

Happy Monday!

Thank you to everyone that came out on Saturday for our spring cleaning! You rocked!
Out of 20 stalls, we got 9-10 COMPLETELY power washed and mats out and washed too!!! Wahoo! Halfway there!

All feed buckets and water buckets washed! What a day!
New feeders hung in stalls!

We cannot thank you enough! The power of teamwork!

Tomorrow is our farm maintenance day! We will be focused on the barn portion tomorrow unless we get more hands to tackle the fences!

The heat has claimed a victim of one of our program horses and so now is the time for our Horsemanship Students to take the opportunity to learn and help and in new ways!

We will be hosing horses down today every 2 hours starting at 12pm today AND tomorrow!
