Cool Dog Crew
Using ethical and FUN methods to help dogs become happy, healthy and confident. Cool Dog Crew is all about results in a compassionate way!
We teach in-person classes every Saturday in Fredericksburg, Virginia!
Not all distractions are created equal — and neither are your games. The Disengagement Ladder is designed to be personalized: red games for the big, hard stuff, green games for the easy wins. And the beautiful part? Over time, dogs start making those good choices on their own.
This is a little peek inside one of our online classes where we talk through exactly how to match your game to the moment.

Our next class begins on April 4th. If you need some help with calmness and other skills, make sure to check out our events and reserve your spot!
Our classes are intentionally small so that each and every dog gets what they need to succeed. Isn't it time that you have the support you need? ❤️🐾🐾

Have you ever noticed…
You can be completely invisible to your dog
until you pick up your shoes?
Suddenly — excitement. Movement. Hope. Anticipation.
That’s not stubbornness.
That’s learning history.
Your dog has learned that *shoes predict adventure*.
So the body gets ready before the brain even thinks about it.
This is the beautiful power of **predictability** in behavior.
What we repeat becomes meaningful.
And the best part?
We can build new, calm, thoughtful predictions too.
🌀 | Compassion is our compass.
Confidence doesn’t come from pressure.
It comes from **choice**.
When dogs are free to try, pause, step away,
and re-engage on their own…
They begin to feel safe in their own decisions.
And safety is where real confidence grows.
This is why we love simple games, clear patterns,
and environments that support success.
Not forcing bravery.
Growing it. 🌱

Small wins matter more than big leaps.
One calm glance.
One thoughtful pause.
One choice to stay close instead of rush away.
These tiny moments are how dogs learn
that the world is safe…
and that being with you feels good.
Training isn’t about perfection.
It’s about stacking gentle successes
until confidence quietly appears. 💕

Use the environment to practice skills. 🌿🐾
“Two Feet Up” often begins in the quiet comfort of home — a small bench, a bit of luring, and lots of gentle success.
But the real magic happens when we thoughtfully take that skill *out into the world* and rebuild it step by step in new places.
For many dogs, this simple power pose becomes a huge confidence booster.
Standing tall, feeling balanced, choosing to engage… it helps dogs feel capable, empowered, and proud of themselves. And when dogs feel powerful in safe, supported ways, their whole outlook on the environment can shift.
Start small.
Go slow.
Celebrate every brave try.
Confidence isn’t rushed — it’s grown.

Even when it doesn’t look like it…
your dog is trying.
Trying to feel safe.
Trying to understand.
Trying to belong. 💕
When we see that effort,
we become softer teachers.
And softer teaching changes everything. 🌀

Before we fix behavior, we build relationship.
Because dogs learn best from people they feel safe with.
Connection first.
Everything else becomes easier.
