I am feeling like *pinch me I must be dreaming* as I spent the morning setting up our learning space at our outdoor school (separate from WLH) and came home to do some planning for Wild Little Hearts.

Our kids nervous systems are going to be so nourished this year. They will be given the space and sturdy leadership to explore their world and express themselves.

We’ve made huge progress this weekend! Big big love to my people - everyone who has given their faith, belief, time, energy, resources…. This dream has been a long time coming and also in the blink of an eye. This is JUST the beginning of a beautiful co-creation of a learning space for non traditional education.

On our way as we speak to go pick up our kidney table (IYKYK) and my little teacher heart is BEAMING feeling so much love for the wild little hearts I’ll get to spend this next year with.

Our program is created and led by Kinsey Fields, a licensed VA teacher with a BA in special education, 5+ years of classroom instruction, and most of all, she is the mother of two of life’s greatest teachers - her daughters.

Ages 0-7 are some of the most critically important years in our children’s development.

They develop their attachment styles, learn how to be a person and exist in this world, adapt to their environments.

So much of what happens during these years will shape the rest of their lives.

Confidence. Trust. Bravery. Courage. Curiosity. Self trust. Connection to intuition. Asking questions. Testing boundaries.

This is the important work of a child.

Big feelings. Getting messy. Discovery.

When kids have sturdy leaders that can hold a safe space for them to learn and explore, they receive the greatest gift: a strong foundation to be exactly who they are meant to be.

Caregivers, we aren’t meant to do this work alone. Being well resourced to support your child means you also have other adults you trust to pour into your kids.

When I started my journey of intimately knowing the impact of our nervous systems and how to regulate them with nourishment, safety, and support…. I had this massive “AH HA” moment.

On average, a public school classroom will serve 20-30 students in each class or period.

That is 20-30 energetic capacities. That’s 20-30 nervous systems.

You may or may not have heard this fun fact that we are a representation or most reflective of the 5 nervous systems we are around the most.

Our children spend most of their time in their classrooms (in a public school setting)

Our brains are not primed for learning until our nervous systems are calm. You do the math on that 😉

Something I LOVED and was SO PASSIONATE about was being able to reach deep and connect with every single kid & every single family. No matter if there was a language barrier, a big need, an unspoken mistrust, or anything along that parent teacher student spectrum.

Then I became a mother.

The vision was planted. Every year since I’ve been dreaming up what I would change or wish we had access to or could do differently.

I can say that I had some of the BEST administrators and access to INCREDIBLE resources.

And STILL I felt everyday I was falling short.

What I’m dreaming & what I know others have dreamed of is the magic that can happen when our children and families are deeply supported.

This doesn’t mean a free for all. This doesn’t mean there’s no expectations or standards or learning targets or objective.

What it means is that we honor and respect these little people in big ways.

Our children are the next generation. What if we held space for them to explore what their gifts are? What if we led with patience & compassion? What if we modeled authentic respect for their lived experience? What if we gave them the safe environment to regulate their nervous systems and build a solid set of tools in social and emotional skillset?

High expectations + deep reverence to the learning process + honoring the learner = soul led learning & illuminating education.

Learning pod details:

I have limited spots available for the September session beginning 9/6 - details in the pictures in the comments! This is primarily for ages 4-7 and will be Monday & Wednesday from 9:00-12:00. This is an inclusive learning environment that will focus on social emotional development, academic skills, and mindfulness. Sibling discount available.

This is an inclusive learning environment and there is absolutely flexibility in age ranges / how this may look for your family and learners’ needs.

Since this is meant to serve families, I’m exploring different ways this could look. For now, for the month of September, this is what I am rolling out.

That said, if you have older kiddos, are more interested in the social emotional / mindfulness rather than academic, etc please reach out and share your ideas with me! I love collaboration and your feedback is important.

I’m Kinsey Fields - a former public school teacher on a mission to illuminate education and provide soul led learning to big wild hearted humans 🤍

What does that mean? It means that I care deeply about raising a new generation of kids with regulated nervous systems, who are deeply engaged in their learning, who have sturdy leaders, and know how to follow their spirits on this journey in life.

I’ve chosen to leave the classroom as I knew it and create something that aligned with my mama heart and my bigger mission with this one precious life: helping our world heal.

I can think of no better way than by creating expansive non-traditional learning opportunities that are family and child centered, engaging, and fulfilling.
