Original abdomen carry skeletonized holster I collaborated on with back in oh sh*t…1990? Greg makes outstanding horsehide holsters. His attention to detail is superb. This was for mid to full frame semi’s. I carried with it quite a bit and used it overseas on several gigs. Pictured with it is my 3 caliber 1911 - .22/9mm/.45 Initially built at Quantico but later tuned up by John Adler of www.forsakendefenders.com - an outstanding gunsmith who seeks perfection in his customs.

The martial arts “journey” everyone always references is as much about maturing as it is experiencing new disciplines. It’s recognizing that those with the least experience are often the loudest because their sample size is so small that they are inappropriately SURE of what they know (because they don’t know how MUCH information exists). It’s recognizing that there are many ways to accomplish the same goal; many not being better or more well thought out than another - and that’s okay. It’s about being comfortable in your own skin, dropping the false armor (spirit animals, punisher skulls, etc.) and being okay with what skills you choose against the backdrop of all the available approaches. It’s no longer needing consensus, validation from others or permission to do whatever you deem works best FOR YOU.

It’s important when you review your training regimen to constantly ask yourself, “Am I learning a drill or am I training a skill?” Sometimes, if you’re not vigilant, training can drift into hobbyism and veer away from utility; in particular when you focus on improbable outliers. Keep it real y’all…keep it real.

Downsizing means compromise but these are all good limited capability options. You won’t carry what is too onerous, assembling some options for those situations that either don’t warrant full sized kit or when it’s impractical makes sense…
