This summer, our programming focused on the beautiful state of Maryland—from its agricultural farmland and coastal bays to its mountains and the incredible plants and animals that thrive in each region.
This week marked our very last week of programming. On Tuesday, we welcomed Tony M. Music, who entertained us while teaching us! We clapped to the beat, created musical patterns, played instruments (did you know your voice is an instrument?), and used our bodies to make music. We created beats, practiced patterns, and had a wonderful time learning through music!
On Wednesday, we traveled to ThorpeWood, where our guides took us into the Pine Cathedral for storytime with Miss Erika, who read Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? by Eric Carle. We then set off on a scavenger hunt, looking intently at the ground, rocks, and trees for walking and flying bugs, leaves, special plants, and other interesting bits of nature. Maddie and Cheri even found a hawk tail!
We also had the chance to visit Hope the cow, Mia the horse, and Zane, the adorable one-eyed Icelandic pony. The chickens and goats welcomed us, too! We ended our adventure with a picnic under the trees and a big group photo.
It was a peaceful place filled with sensory experiences, curiosity, and connection—to each other and to nature. Thank you, Thorpewood, for giving us such a wonderful way to end our summer!
And now, we’re off until our Open Houses later this month. What a summer it has been!
