In 1997 Frederick Montessori and Arts School (formerly Frederick Country Day School) first opened its doors, offering three Primary and two Pre-Primary classrooms. Here, children were exposed to a strong Montessori curriculum that included language, math, music, art, science and cultural studies. Spanish, Yoga, Computer and Peace Education were added in an effort to enhance each student’s learning experience. The school also began to focus more on Fine Arts by introducing a Composer of the Month and an Artist of the Month to the already rich curriculum. In 2012, the school was entrusted to new owners who brought a fresh perspective to how this award-winning Montessori school could best serve its families. An Infant and Toddler Classroom was added and an even greater emphasis was placed on the Arts. Today, the Frederick Montessori and Arts School is the only Montessori school in the area that offers a rich, comprehensive Fine Arts curriculum, including music and dance.
