Dr. Samuels has been awarded the 2024 ‘Ohana Honors Award by Counselors for Social Justice (CSJ), a division of the American Counseling Association (ACA). This national award honors individuals whose life and work affirm diversity and advocacy for social justice. More importantly, award recipients have demonstrated engagement in advocacy and social justice in the spirit of the following ‘Ohana qualities: caring, humility, intelligence, generosity, integrity, honesty, unconditional love, spiritual power, courtesy, and courage.”

Dr. Samuels has been awarded the 2024 Community Action Award by Maryland Counseling Association (MCA). This state award honors a leader in MCA who has demonstrated notable community action to further the professional identity of counselors, increase access to mental health care, and/or provide mental health services to an underserviced population.
