🍂💚 Spirit Week starts today — Tuesday 9/22, the first day of fall!

This week, Whittier is celebrating Start With Hello Week, a national initiative focused on reducing social isolation and building a more connected and welcoming school community.

Students are encouraged to remember three simple steps:

👀 See someone alone
🤝 Reach out and help
👋 Start with hello

And, of course, we’ll be celebrating with some fun Spirit Days!

🎵 Tuesday 9/22 — Break the ice
Wear a shirt that shows your favorite musician, sports team, hobby, or something you love!

💚 Wednesday 9/23 — Green Out
Wear green as a symbol of unity and solidarity with Sandy Hook Promise.

🌈 Thursday 9/24 — Brighten someone’s day
Wear bright neon colors or tie-dye!

😴 Friday 9/25 — Pajama Day
Everyone should feel comfortable coming to school — wear relaxed clothes or pajamas!

Spirit Week is a fun way to highlight something important: helping every student feel seen, welcomed, and connected. 💙❤️

🙋 Volunteers needed! 🎨

If you’re available on a regular basis for 1–2 hours, we’d love your help!

Current volunteer opportunities include:

🎨 Art class support — prepare materials for Mrs. Texier’s and Mrs. Coats’ art classes
📄 Copying help — make copies for Mrs. Victory and the 4th grade team
🧹 Pod support — wipe down desks after breakfast, monitor hallways during bathroom breaks, and help move trash to the dumpsters

❤️ Red Envelope Campaign update: We’ve raised $1,206!

Thanks to the generosity of our Whittier families and community, we’ve already raised $1,206 — 24% of our $5,000 goal! 🎉

Every donation helps support special experiences for our students, including:

🐝 Spelling Bee
💃 School Dance
🏫 In-school field trips and guest speakers

This is a great opportunity to:
