Exciting news! 2026 Maryland Teacher of the Year ALonna Soward-Puryear is a 2027 recipient of the Travelers Award for Teaching Excellence from the National Education Association Foundation. Award recipients represent educators who embody excellence in their practice, advocate for the profession, are committed to equity and opportunity, engage in community engagement, and provide leadership in professional development. ⭐️ Nominate an FCPS Employee for the Veteran in Education Service Award ⭐️

Frederick County Public Schools seeks nominations for the annual Veteran in Education Service Award, to honor an FCPS employee who has served our nation in the armed forces and has provided exemplary service to FCPS and the community. Any community member, FCPS student, former student, student’s parent, or FCPS employee may nominate an individual.

⭐️ Elementary Pappy Lorenzen Cross Country Event is Postponed ⭐️

Due to the current weather conditions and the forecast for September 22, we have made the decision to postpone the elementary Pappy Lorenzen Cross Country Event.

The safety of our athletes, teachers, and spectators is our top priority, and the current weather does not allow for safe or fair competition.

The scheduled rain date is next Tuesday, September 29, at Nymeo Field At Harry Grove Stadium (Keys Stadium).

📸🎡 We have another BLAZER exhibitor at The Great Frederick Fair! 🎡📸

We are SO proud to share that 5th grader Patrick Moore is an exhibitor in the Photography Department at The Great Frederick Fair! Patrick entered his own photography this year, and we couldn’t be more excited to see his work on display alongside other exhibitors from across our community. ❤️

Throughout his years at Butterfly Ridge, Patrick has been such a wonderful part of our arts programs. From sharing his voice in chorus, to taking the stage in our talent show, and now sharing his creativity through photography, Patrick continues to find new ways to let his talents shine. 🎶🎭📷

And today makes it even more special! Our 5th graders are heading to the fair this morning, which means Patrick’s classmates will have the chance to walk through the Photography Department and see their friend’s work proudly displayed as an official fair entry! 🥹💙

There is something pretty incredible about seeing one of our Blazers have the courage to put something they created out into the world for others to enjoy.

Patrick, we are so proud of you for representing Butterfly Ridge and for continuing to share your creativity with our school and our community. Way to go, Patrick! 📸💙🔥
