Frederick County has been experiencing a steady increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 over the last few weeks. We are seeing a correlating increase in the number of cases reported in our schools as well. According to CDC criteria, Frederick County and all counties in Maryland are still considered to be at a Low Community Level of COVID-19. COVID-19 Community Levels | CDC
COVID-19 had been less present in our community and schools for several weeks, therefore, we are providing the following reminders of our current procedures:
• All persons who test positive for COVID-19 or who have suspected COVID-19, regardless of vaccination status, are not permitted in school and offices.
• Individuals and parents are responsible for following our screening guidelines if they or their child have primary COVID-19 symptoms or are positive for COVID-19. Primary COVID-19 symptoms include:
o Fever of 100.4 or higher
o Sore throat
o Cough
o Difficulty breathing
o Diarrhea or vomiting
o New onset of severe headache
o New loss of taste or smell

• FCPS is enforcing isolation of positive/symptomatic individuals and will continue to send individuals with Primary COVID-19 symptoms home and require isolation or testing before they return. FCPS is accepting the results of COVID-19 Home Test Kits.

Reminder: Daily COVID-19 Screening
If you are participating in some in-person instruction or extracurricular activity at one of our FCPS buildings, please review the COVID-19 screening message below.
Dear Parent/Guardian,
FCPS is asking for your help keeping all our schools and communities safe. Please review the list of COVID-19 symptoms below with your student prior to leaving for school every day. You will be provided a weekly communication reminder of this requirement. Students who are ill or are experiencing symptoms are expected to remain at home.
Parents/Guardians are required to screen their student(s) daily with the following to three questions:
(a) Has your student tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 5 days?
(b) Has your student been in close contact* with anyone who is either a confirmed or probable case of COVID-19 in the last 5 days?
(c) Is your student currently experiencing or displaying, any ONE of the following COVID-19 symptoms?
• Fever of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit (38 Celsius) or higher
• Sore throat
• Cough
• Difficulty breathing
• Diarrhea or vomiting
• New onset of severe headache
• New loss of taste or smell
