Rewriting the Script & Healing #black relationships between the man & woman via coaching, coaching certifications, retreats & courses for healthy ❤️

Last night Chad and I joined the first Black Later Daters speed dating event for Black men and women 45+.

And let’s just be honest for a moment.

Dating right now is hard for a lot of people.
People feel discouraged.
People feel disappointed.
Some think the men are the problem.
Some think the women are the problem.

But one of the real conversations we had in the room last night is something many of us don’t want to admit:

The dating culture we complain about… we’re also contributing to it.

At one point Chad asked me to talk about integrity in dating, and I shared something that made the room pause.

How we show up in the dating pool is often a reflection of who we’re being when we show up.

And one place we struggle? Rejection.

When someone isn’t for us, we ghost.
We get dismissive.
Sometimes we move in ways that lack kindness or respect.

But even when someone isn’t your person… they’re still a person.

Kindness goes a long way.
Honesty goes a long way.
Respect goes a long way.

I’ve had men tell me they were surprised just to be treated with basic decency when the answer was no.

That shouldn’t be rare.

There’s a lot of noise online about the disconnect between Black men and women. Some of it is real. But spaces like Black Later Daters, created by Annette Nixon 🫶🏾, remind me that many of us are still willing to show up differently and shift the conversation.

Connection after 45 isn’t impossible.

But it does require something different from all of us.

More honesty.
More accountability.
More integrity in how we treat each other.

Because love isn’t the problem.

How we’re showing up for it might be.

Happy New Year!

Today, while calling couples on our Black Couples Retreat waiting list, I asked a guy on our list a simple question:

“How are things going?”

He said, “Great.”

I asked, “What changed?”

He said:

“We shut the hell up, listened, and put our egos aside.” (This is what he said verbatim!)

It’s the start of 2026, and that answer felt honest in a way that cuts through everything else.

This year doesn’t feel like it’s asking couples to try harder or talk more.
It feels like it’s asking for better presence in the moments that actually matter.

Strong relationships in 2026 won’t be built by promises or speeches.

They’ll be built in the moment someone pauses, listens, and chooses understanding instead of defense.

That shift isn’t loud.

It doesn’t look impressive on social media.

But it’s the kind of change that stabilizes a relationship and makes love feel safer again.

If you and the person you love want to start this year stronger, clearer, and more connected.

join us for our Black Couples Retreat Connection Info Session. 😘💗

It was our absolute honor and deep pleasure to have Black Silt Yoga join us for our Black Couples Gatlinburg Retreat this weekend. Their presence was more than a session—it was an experience, a recalibration, a sacred slowing-down that our couples needed after a full day of learning, conflict resolution work, and emotional honesty.

Working with them was pure joy—fun, insightful, warm, and deeply connected. Their expertise created a space where our couples could breathe again… not the shallow, rushed breathing we do when we’re managing life, but the kind of intentional breath that tells your nervous system, you are safe here.

Through heart-to-heart breathing, grounding yoga poses, aromatherapy, soothing sound frequencies, and a full sound bath that washed over the room like peace itself, they helped our couples release tension, open their bodies, and keep their hearts as light as a feather going forward.

And the best part?
We realized that together, The Love Camp and Black Silt Yoga can bring our missions, our love for our community, and our healing work together in a way that creates even greater impact. This is only the beginning.

To Black Silt Yoga: thank you for pouring into our couples, for elevating our retreat, and for bringing such a powerful layer of healing to the Love Camp Gatlinburg Black Couples Retreat in Tennessee. We see you, we appreciate you, and we cannot wait to collaborate again.

We’re grateful, we’re aligned, and now we’re opening the doors for 2026 retreats. If Gatlinburg was this powerful… just imagine what’s coming next.

❤️ DMV Couples — Let’s make this happen.

If you and your love have been craving a night that’s fun, easy, and meaningful — this is it. No overthinking, no travel bags, no big time commitment… just one evening to laugh, connect, and remember why you two chose each other in the first place.

On Thursday, September 11, we’re hosting a Date Night at The Country Club at Woodmore (Mitchellville, MD) made just for couples:

🍽️ Dinner & drinks
🎯 Fun, simple communication skills to keep your connection strong
💑 A room full of dope couples who value love and growth as much as you do

We started these nights because not every couple can get away for a retreat or is ready to dive into coaching — but you can strengthen your relationship in one night at a super easy, accessible level.

The 3 things couples need most (and what we’ll tap into):
1️⃣ Quality time that’s intentional, not just routine
2️⃣ Shared experiences that create real memories
3️⃣ Simple tools you can actually use the next day

🎟️ Early-bird spots are open right now — and they go fast.

I’m tagging the couples I appreciate because I’d love to see you there.

📍 The Country Club at Woodmore | 🗓️ Thursday, Sept 11 | Evening

If you and your love are in, comment “I’m in” so I can hold a spot for you.
