Tabula Rasa Coaching Question The Unquestionable I believe in the resiliency of the human spirit.

Human Beings can rise above the circumstances of their birth and overcome great trauma and hardship to become whole and resourceful contributors to our planet. Why some people soar because of their experiences and others get stuck for a lifetime has been the prevailing area of study of my life’s journey and informs the work I do with my clients. The question is not ‘what is wrong with you?’, the q

uestion is ‘what happened to you?’ And how has that shaped your life?’. The answer to this question influences everyday of a person’s life as well as a professional career. The behavior we are experiencing today is always linked back to an experience in our past. My work is to help my clients discover that link, re-examine the beliefs that they have created, evaluate if this is behavior that enhances their lives or creates a barrier to the life they want to live today. I create a warm, safe, non-judgmental container to explore these important questions.

HERES SOMETHING YOU MAY NOT KNOW ABOUT ONE OF THE BEST BASEBALL PLAYERS WHO EVER LIVED ... “Babe Ruth actually played against negro league players to help make them money and try and bring awareness to how good these players actually were. According to Buck O'Neill and Monte Irvin, players in the Negro Leagues received the equivalent of a dollar a day. When Babe Ruth joined them, he would bring them $1,500 to share among all the teams. Ruth was, for a long time, an advocate of the integration of baseball.” WHAT A 🐐🐐

WE ARE HERE

We are here essentially to risk ourselves in the world. We are a form of invitation to others and to otherness, we are meant to hazard ourselves for the right thing, for the right woman or the right man, for a son or a daughter, for the right work or for a gift given against all the odds. And in all this continual risking the most profound courage may be found in the greatest risk and the greatest vulnerability of all, the simple willingness to allow ourselves to be happy along the way…

THE GLEAM

Sometimes,
in the midst
of every difficult
and everyday
awkward
way, you try to
make your
onward way,

sometimes
sitting down
at the edge
of everything
that has made you
too tired
to take
another step,

there’s that
caught sight,
now here,
now gone

of a half imagined
wavering light
just among
the trees

just a gleam
or a wisp
of white gold
in the dying sun

a strange kind
of beckoning,

an ache
outlined
so intimately
as it is,
against
all of the doings
you have
labeled
so lovingly
as sins,

the place you
should have gone
all those years ago
still, it seems,
willing
to invite you again,

simpler this time,
not too far away

touchable now,
and within reach

just a single step
on the other side
of what you always
come to call
in the end,
forgiveness.

There are some 8 billion people in the world. There are 365 days in a year. It surprises you that some of those people are dumb? That some of those days are not great? It’s amazing the attention (and the hand wringing) paid to the handful of absolutely batsh*t crazy members of the United States [....
