Congratulations, Mr. Monroe !

Congratulations to Fraser elementary art teacher Andrew Monroe on earning Best in Show at the 62nd Annual Michigan Education Association & Michigan Art Education Association Art Acquisitions Purchase Awards Exhibition!

The statewide exhibition showcased artwork created by educators from across Michigan in a variety of media, including paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture and jewelry.

Mr. Monroe's charcoal drawing titled “Eyedentity,” was inspired by the application to get his newborn baby a Social Security card more than 20 years ago.

We're proud to have such talented educators inspiring creativity in our classrooms every day. Congratulations, Mr. Monroe, on this well-deserved recognition!

Today’s College for Creative Studies student exhibit field trip was a success! The students had the incredible opportunity to immerse themselves in a vibrant display of artwork from a multitude of art majors. From fashion design to automotive modeling, transportation design to illustration, and product design to interior design, they were able to witness the immense talent and creativity that flourishes within these disciplines.

The exhibit also showcased the brilliance of advertising design, communication design, studio art and crafts, entertainment arts, photography, film, and so much more. It provided a valuable platform for art students to envision the endless possibilities their interests and skills can unlock in higher education and as rewarding careers.
We were even able to see some past Fraser student artworks on display!

It is essential to recognize and advocate for the arts, as they play an integral role in our lives. Every object, building, and visual experience we encounter has been thoughtfully designed by someone. Art enriches our existence, stimulates our senses, and challenges our perspectives. It is a testament to human ingenuity and expression, fostering creativity, empathy, and critical thinking.

Each year, more than 4,000 high school students from across the country participate in the VFW Auxiliary’s Young American Creative Patriotic Art Contest. The contest began in 1979 to recognize up-and-coming artists and encourage patriotism in youth.

Please help me in congratulating the following students for their work winning (dominating) the regionals.

Evelyn Seivers 10th grade- 1st place $150 winner
Sophia Thornton 12th grader- 2nd place $100 winner
Sydney Bosca 11th grader- Tie for 3rd place $50 winner
Madeleine Akers 12th grader- tie for 3rd place $50 winner (not pictured)

Evelyn Seivers 1st place work has moved on to the State competition. We wish her the best of luck!

Dear Fraser Public Schools Community,

We are thrilled to share the success of our recent art show! It was wonderful to see so many people come together with friends and family to celebrate the creativity of our talented students. Your support means the world to us, as the arts play a crucial role in enriching our educational experience.

The DIY crafts station, organized by the Fraser High School National Art Honor Society, was a fantastic fundraiser that gave visitors the chance to make art — not just admire it. Our compliment station allowed attendees to leave uplifting messages for our young artists. Eleven senior portfolio tables were on display, each showcasing a student's unique style and growth throughout their education. We also featured multiple artworks that have earned recognition in outside competitions — be sure to look for the ribbons and Scholastic Key stickers on their labels!

This year, we also debuted a collaborative art piece centered around the word "INSPIRE." Visitors were invited to add their own artistic touch to the piece, making it a true reflection of our community's creativity. The finished artwork is now on display at Fraser High School through the beginning of next school year, so be sure to stop by and find your contribution!

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this event's success — our volunteers, NAHS members, and district art teachers — for all your hard work in making this celebration so special. We are truly grateful and excited to continue growing this show and our arts department for years to come!

ARTEFFECT challenges young artists to bring to life the stories of Unsung Heroes — individuals who demonstrated heroic traits and actions that made a profound impact on others, yet have largely gone unrecognized by society. Since 2016, this annual competition has engaged thousands of students in over 40 countries, and we are proud that our students are among them this year.

For this competition, our students created original visual artworks, wrote reflective Impact Statements (500–1,000 words), and developed projects designed to showcase these extraordinary role models and inspire positive change in their classrooms and communities.

Please help me in wishing these students Good luck in this competition as it has THOUSANDS of Dollars in prizes and could make a large impact on their future!
