Conversations with Children: Tips for Using Words in Powerful Ways The power of the words we use with children is like no other! Here are some practical tips for ensuring our conversations with children are positive and meaningful.

Every day is a gift (even Monday!) Today, we meet Ms. Mackensie. She is one of our newest additions to the Qi School team, being with us for a little under 6 months. Mackensie is currently one of our Infant 2 teachers. We have admired Mackenzie’s ability to give all children in her care a sense of belonging, happiness, and comfort. She has been a great addition to our program and are excited to see what else she can bring to our infant classrooms!

Happy Thankful Thursday! Today, we are thankful for Ms. Olivia. Olivia has recently celebrated her two year anniversary with Qi School. Since the beginning, Olivia has shown her adaptability and persistence in ensuring the children in her care received outstanding learning experiences and opportunities. She frequently assists both Toddler 1 and Toddler/Preschool but has been in all rooms building relationships with each child. We greatly appreciate her teamwork, patience, and positive attitude within the program!

Message in a Backpack™ Guiding Your Child’s Behavior

Our children are constantly growing and learning, gaining their knowledge from the world around them. When challenging behaviors arise, it is our job to guide them on how to appropriately handle strong feelings. This article, published by the National Association for Education of Young Children, discusses different ways to approach challenging behavior and the use of effective strategies to encourage positive behavior.

This is something Ms. Jasmine does best! She has recently celebrated her year anniversary with Qi School and has been the best at going with the flow. Jasmine wears patience as if it was truly meant for her. She currently assists in our Preschool program during the summer months and is in school full time in the fall. She has been an amazing addition to our team!

“Thursday is a day of reflections and thoughts”… and I think it’s a great day to introduce Ms. Debbie! Debbie has been with Qi School since January 2023. She brings a dedicated attitude to the program when learning about our little ones. Currently, Debbie is in our Preschool program where she is constantly adapting and learning how to overcome any challenge thrown her way.

Long time, no post! We’re kicking off Meet the Teachers with Ms. Amanda. Amanda has recently celebrated her one year anniversary at Qi School. She has brought such a light, loving attitude into the program. Amanda currently floats through all of our rooms but you will generally see her in Preschool or Toddlers. She works full time in the summer and goes to school full time in the fall. We wish we could have her year round! 💖

Today we meet Ms. Kayla H. Kayla has been with Qi School since June 2022. She is currently working in our Toddler 1 program. Kayla works hard at creating fun, engaging activities for her class that include art, dance, and sensory experiences. Thank you for all you do Ms. Kayla!

After a lovely Teacher Appreciation Week, we resume our Meet the Teachers! Meet Ms. Kerrie! Kerrie has been with Qi school for a little over a year. She currently works in our Toddler/Preschool program but assists in all rooms as needed. Ms. Kerrie is consistently showing her willingness to be flexible and her love for educating all age groups.

Thank you teachers for helping our little ones grow! We are beyond grateful for the love that grows and flourishes within the Qi School program ❤️🌸

Happy Fri-Yay! 🎉 Today is all about Ms. Lauryn. Lauryn has recently returned after a small hiatus away from Qi School. Lauryn currently works in our Infant 1 classroom and has been with us 2 year as of June. Her creativity and bubbly personality makes her a perfect fit for our young babies. We are SO grateful to have her back!

A little dirt never hurt! Our mud kitchen is in full swing on the Qi School playground. This new outdoor exploration area offers children a wide range of experiences. Those who take interest in mud play are working towards many of their developmental milestones, such as fine and gross motor skills, sensory awareness, communication skills, balance and coordination. The possibilities are endless!

Hello May! I cannot believe we’re down another month of 2023. To celebrate the first day of the month, we would like to highlight Ms. Betsy! She has been with Qi School for a year this July and is currently one of our preschool teachers. Betsy is always bringing new ideas to our preschool program as well as her love for reading with the use of her extensive personal library! 📚

Qi School friends were able to not only explore our new sound garden this afternoon but also assist in building the start of our new tractor for the playground. Musical sensory gardens are great resources to improve cognitive function, emotional development, social skills, and fine motor skills. Children were given opportunities to work together and plan how to move project materials and set them up. We LOVE teamwork 💖🧐

Meet Ms. Rema! Rema has been with Qi School for just about 3 years. She currently works in our Preschool program but assists all classrooms when needed. She is currently attending MassBay Community College to complete her Associate’s degree in Early Education. She will later complete her Bachelor’s degree through UMass. We love Ms. Rema’s flexibility and showcasing her excellent teamwork skills every time she comes to Qi. Her compassion and kindness towards our little ones is just icing on the cake!

Good morning! Today’s Meet the Teacher highlight is all about Ms. Kayla T.! Kayla is our Pre-K 2 teacher and has been with Qi School for almost 3 years. She works hard year-round preparing our oldest friends for kindergarten and their years following graduating from Qi. Kayla also runs our scholastic book fair and is always working towards building an extensive library for the program. We adore Ms. Kayla and all she does behind the scenes!

Today we begin our “Meet the Teacher” highlights! Today, we highlight Ms. Alex! Alex has been with Qi School for a little over 1.5 years. She currently works in our Toddler 1 program. Alex always comes in ready to take on the day and consistently shows our little ones compassion, kindness, and love. Thank you for being a valuable member of our team!

Words of encouragement always cheer us up! That's why we're grateful for these cards made by the kids at the QI SCHOOL in Franklin for National Child Health Day this week! Our team of Boston Children’s Hospital pediatricians, as well as our Emergency Department doctors, nurses and staff, always have a smile when cards like this come in.

As an extension of our weekly exploration about dinosaurs and extinct animals, we welcomed a special guest, Ms. Emily the paleontologist, to Qi School today. She showed us a variety of fossils which included an ammonite and megalodon tooth. The children even got to hold a small piece of actual dinosaur bone! Ms. Emily also showed us pictures of dig sites she's worked at and tools that she uses to excavate and scrape the fossils. The older children participated in discussions about different types of dinosaurs and how they became extinct. We were all very impressed by the knowledge of some of our very own dinosaur enthusiasts! To conclude the experience, the children made their own dinosaur footprints on clay, and tried dusting "fossils" at our "excavation site". Thank you, Ms. Emily, for such an amazing showcase and experience!

We had our First Annual QI School Art Show today. The teachers and children worked so hard to make an incredible presentation for the families.

We utilize an inquiry-based curriculum that emphasizes social-emotional learning and STEM education. We offer Mandarin immersion opportunities, and our children dive deep into each topic during Weekly Explorations. Our mission is to help each child discover their potential, follow his or her individualized growth path, embrace cultural diversity and build solid foundations for life through providing a safe and enriching environment with highly qualified teachers and a comprehensive curriculum.

The Qi School team is a passionate team that is dedicated to the education and development of children. We currently have openings for assistant teachers.

Primary Responsibilities of Assistant Teacher:

- Follow Qi School mission and philosophy;
- Interact affectionately and respectfully with children.
- Assist the Teacher in daily activities;
- Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures while supervising the children at all times;
- Provide stimulating activities that will support their emotional, intellectual and social development;
- Must be a team player and willing to help out wherever needed.
- Ensure compliance with all EEC rules and regulations.

Qualifications

- At least 18 years of age;
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- One year experience working with children birth to five years in home or center setting;
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
