November Update for Cowee Pottery School!

November will be about open studio, finishing up our 2026 projects, and getting ready for Cowee Christmas! We won’t have regular classes in November, but there will be time to complete work in the studio, pick up finished pieces, and help us get everything ready for the holidays.

Here’s what you need to know!

🎨 OPEN STUDIO
Open studio runs November 1–29, except Thanksgiving Day (November 26). Sign up as usual, and keep an eye out for the posted schedule!

A few things to keep in mind:

No new clay will be handed out in November. You’re welcome to use leftover clay, but anything made this month will stay on your shelf or go home with you and won’t be fired until January.

The last bisque firing will be around November 7, with glaze firings continuing through the end of the month.

Please plan to pick up your finished work before Cowee Christmas!

🧹 STUDIO CLEANUP PARTY
Saturday, November 21, from 9 AM–2 PM. We’ll have pizza and get the studio cleaned up and ready for the new year. Sign up in the handbuilding room, or just show up and lend a hand!

🎄 COWEE CHRISTMAS
Mark your calendars!

Preview Party: December 4, 5:30–7:30 PM

Cowee Christmas: December 5, 10 AM–3 PM

Sign-up sheets for helping with Cowee Christmas will be in the hand building room. Sign up for as much of the day as you’d like! Setup dates and times will be shared soon.

✨ ONE LAST THING
Please clean out your personal shelf and label it with your name and 2027 if you plan to return next year. If you’re not returning or aren’t sure yet, please take your things home. All other shelves will be cleared for new students.

We’ve been getting into the Christmas spirit at Cowee Pottery School! 🎄

Our Santa’s milk cup & cookie plate class for the kids and our Christmas luminaries hand-building class are both in the books. So much fun and so many great creations!

Didn’t get photos of day two of our Amaco glazing class but we do have a clip to share. Our amazing Amaco instructor Jennifer Hoolihan was so great. We learned a lot of new techniques and everyone had a great time!
Yesterday she told us several times to make sure the jar lids were secure before shaking and said a loose lid happens in every workshop (maybe she should not have said that, lol!).

So much fun at day one of our Amaco glaze event today. Not that you can tell in the photos of us all glazing using the techniques we just learned. Intense concentration all around. Can’t wait for day two!
