Hi Potters! We have a few exciting things to share:

1- September classes will be posted tomorrow!

2- Visit Smokies has an exciting opportunity for artists affiliated with Cowee School! Please check out the attached information for more details.

A winner will be selected after the first of the year in 2027.

The selected artist will donate one signature piece to Visit Smokies, giving them permission to use the artwork to create and sell merchandise featuring the piece. Proceeds from those sales will support Visit Smokies, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting the Smokies region of North Carolina.

This is a great opportunity for an artist to gain exposure. As the featured artist, your work and signature would be promoted throughout the region, including in the Visit Smokies travel guide, on their website and social media, and at their visitor center.

If you're an artist affiliated with Cowee School, this could be a wonderful opportunity to have your work seen and promoted far beyond our local community!

We are in love with it. It is replacing Opal Luster. Zoom in on the back side photo to see all the pretty colors on the smooth side. Also breaks and fills texture nicely.

Here is a good example of how much clay shrinks between the making and glaze firing. Good 1/2 inch smaller in circumference than the dish used to make it.

At Cowee Pottery, there's a whole community working behind the scenes to make it all possible. A few of our volunteers were spotted in the studio today: mixing glazes, emptying and loading the kiln, preparing for upcoming classes, teaching others how to throw on the wheel, and working on projects.

We are built on the time, talent, and dedication of our incredible volunteers!
