Sunrise Story

Sunrise Montessori School is licensed by the Department of Early Education & Care, and is a full member of both the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the Montessori Schools of Massachusetts. Sunrise has two Children’s House Classrooms and we offer full and half day programs, and before and after school care options. Our school year runs from September to June, and enrollment is open throughout the school year. Sunrise also provides thematic Summer Program options for the children to experience on a week to week basis!

Within each classroom children between the ages of 2.9 and 6 learn, play and socialize in small and large groups as well as individually, according to their developmental, social and cognitive abilities. Younger children enjoy watching and learning from older classmates as they complete an activity, and older children are proud to show off their skills and accomplishments. Children practice independence in their daily activities, build self-confidence and establish good work & social habits which guide them to become life-long learners.

At Sunrise, learning is driven by a deep respect for children as individuals. The children are encouraged to work towards gaining the knowledge and the understanding of the world around them, and as they progress through their preschool and kindergarten years, the basis for their future elementary growth is developed and supported through the Montessori Curriculum.

Our classrooms are set-up according to the needs of the child - low tables, shelves that are easily accessible and materials specifically designed for small hands. The prepared classroom, along with our highly trained staff, support an environment where children are stimulated and challenged, but not pressured. Children experience the excitement of learning through the selection and completion of their own work or activity. Guidance and lessons are offered by Montessori trained teachers, who also carefully observe each child’s progress so that a new or expanded concept may be presented to the child when he/she is ready.

Sunrise was founded in 2005 by a group of dedicated Montessori teachers, administrators and parents, whose vision is to provide a nurturing and academic environment for children during the important stages of early childhood development.
