For our last day of Spirit Week, our community was decked out in red, white, and blue! “America” Day was the perfect way to end a week of themed dress-up days—and to kick off our Homecoming Night!

Today’s dress-up theme was “Anything but a Backpack!” Our students had us laughing and smiling from ear to ear as they arrived carrying their school supplies in wheelbarrows, shopping carts, wagons, toolboxes, and animal crates. We were so inspired by their ingenuity and creativity! What a fun way to show off their imagination and personality!

Our Mother Son Game night was a huge hit for our grammar boys and their moms! We enjoyed gaga ball, axe throwing, corn hole, bingo, playground races, snacks, and of course- a Nerf war. At our last Knight Crew, we welcomed our esteemed teacher of upper division lecture, Mr. Justin Scherrer! Not only is Mr. Scherrer a longtime FCS faculty member, but he is also one of our treasured alumni.

Mr. Scherrer helped introduce and explain this year’s Humanities theme verse, Isaiah 26:4: “Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.”

He also shared the beautiful meaning behind this year’s logo and its theme. The swallow, which typically stays close to shore, was once a welcome sight to sailors as a sign that land was near. The anchor keeps us grounded to the sea floor, even when we cannot see what lies beneath us. Together, these symbols serve as such a beautiful reminder of our faith: even when we cannot see or feel God, He is always near. He is our steadfast anchor, our sure foundation, and our everlasting Rock.

We are so thankful for the wisdom and encouragement that Mr. Scherrer shared with our grammar students- and for the opportunity to hear from someone who has been such a meaningful part of the FCS community, both as a student and as a teacher!

Today, on the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, we reflect on the fragility of life and death. On this day in 2001, our nation and countless families were forever changed.

Amid the rubble and destruction, the flag that became known as the “Ground Zero flag” was raised at the site of the Twin Towers by three firefighters—George Johnson, Dan McWilliams, and Billy Eisengrein. The photo of that moment, taken by Thomas E. Franklin, became one of the most iconic photographs in modern American history.

It became a powerful symbol and reminder of perseverance, bravery, and hope. Twenty-five years later, we still remember the lives lost, the sacrifices made, and the courage shown on this day.

At our most recent Knight Crew gathering, our 1st and 5th graders took center stage and led our grammar school in learning through songs, recitations, and creativity.

Their enthusiasm brought each presentation to life as they helped us learn more about the names of God, the days of Creation, and the sons of Abraham.

One of the highlights of the morning was joining together to sing the beloved hymn, This Is My Father’s World. It’s wonderful to see the students beginning to grasp the important biblical truths and historical context that form the foundation of our Antiquity humanities block!
