Dear journalism family,
We hope the year is off to a great start and your student journalists are doing the important work that’s vital to your school and community! Here are several things from IHSPA that can help continue this momentum through the first few months of 2026-2027:

• The IHSPA Executive Board and student members are creating an awesome program for the leadership workshop, which will be held Thursday, Sept. 10 at Franklin College. Please remember this is a FREE event that does NOT require adviser attendance to participate. Click here for more information: https://forms.gle/Zv1JrWYZ7hkwvPBA8 The registration deadline is Friday, Sept. 4.

• The Rowena Harvey competition deadline is Sept. 15. Everything you need to know about the state’s scholastic journalism contest can be found here: http://ihspa.net/harvey-awards

• Yearbooks for Hoosier Star evaluations may be submitted until Oct. 1. However, some schools have already received expert feedback from their judge, so send those books ASAP to help plan this year’s volume! Just visit http://ihspa.net/hoosierstar for all the details.

• And speaking of Hoosier Star, we’ve reopened the window to submit last year’s content from broadcasts, newspapers/newsmagazines, and websites. Enter that material before Sept. 15, and your students will still be eligible for Indiana’s top recognition in scholastic journalism!
