There aren’t words to describe Winter Retreat ‘22 but we think this prayer, based on Romans 12 and written by Macy Helm, is a beautiful summary of what God taught us all on this trip!
“Dear Father,
Our way of worship is to sacrifice ourselves, our wants, our needs, our desires to You. This is how we worship: to live broken in You. Through trust, may we listen to You, Lord. Through our faith, may we walk humbly and courageously, with a love of all You have made. May the pride be chased away. Our faith is founded, grounded, in this.
We are each a member of the Body of Christ, and, therefore, are each made as a member of each other. How, then, can this body function unless we all embrace in holy love and work together? Each gift must be used in community, and then it’s holy glory will be revealed in fullness.
May we love with sincerity. May we be strengthened and active in faith, never lazy. May we bless and kill others with kindness, especially those who persecute us. Oh, Lord, what a relief, a comfort, a joy that we are not required to punish, and that you are the judge of justice and mercy and grace, and that we are not. When others are joyous, may we be as well. When others grieve, may we embrace them in sorrow. May goodness overcome and evil flee. Break away haughtiness so the armor of humility will shine underneath.
Amen.”
This weekend was incredible and we are so thankful we got to spend it with all of you! We pray that the truths learned and relationships built on this trip will be eternally impactful for each of these amazing students. We love and miss each of you already!!
