Our FFA leaders celebrated National Farmer’s Day with an incredible learning experience, discovering the many ways agriculture impacts our daily lives and Georgia’s economy! Hearing first hand experience and importance of the ag industry around our community and state from Georgia Agriculture Commissioner Tyler Harper, House Representative David Huddleston-, and Senator Matt Brass gave our students courage to continue to educate peers regarding Georgia’s number one industry.
Students learned about the Georgia Department of Agriculture’s wide-ranging responsibilities, including food production and distribution, consumer protection, regulating gas pumps and airport scales, and even developing jet fuel from forestry products. They also witnessed the City of Ephesus proclaiming October 12th Tyler Harper Day!
A special thank-you to Mr. Ralph Caldwell, Middle Georgia Farm Bureau Vice President, and Mayor of Ephesus, Mr. Denney Rogers, for hosting this educational opportunity.
Experiences like these help our students connect classroom learning to real-world careers and see the many opportunities available through agricultural education and FFA!
