The Franklin Panthers football team made their triumphant return home in style, defeating the Robbinsville Black Knights 31-7.

We appreciate the community coming and bringing The Pit back to life! The football team be back in action next week against the Swain County Maroon Devils, where we will be celebrating the 50th anniversary of the 1976 state championship football team. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm.

Be on the lookout for this weeks TWIPA to catch all the FHS Panther athletics excitement!

Senior portraits for the yearbook will be taken Wednesday and Thursday, September 9th and 10th, during the school day on the Fine Arts Center Stage. THIS IS THE ONLY PORTRAIT THAT WILL BE USED IN THE YEARBOOK. You will be called out by advisor groups to report to the Fine Arts Center for your picture. Formal outfits will be provided by the photographers.

Guys- Bring or wear a plain white t-shirt to wear under the tuxedo shirt

Ladies- The studio suggests wearing/bringing something strapless to be worn under the drape.

You will also choose your yearbook pose at the camera during this time.

If you don't get your picture taken on the 9th, there will be a chance to get it taken on the 10th. We will have a make-up day towards the end of October.

In an effort to increase parking availability on Friday Nights on Panther Drive, we have made some adjustments. At the end of the school day, parking spaces 65-71 will be blocked off and reserved for the officials. In spaces 27-30, FHS Student Leadership will host a student tailgating party in partnership with Countryside Chevrolet, with festivities kicking off at 5:30pm. The visiting teams will park along the road at the base of the hill in the student parking area. Spaces 206-207 will be reserved for the Gameday Sponsor. Kickoff is set for 7:30pm.

Please note that parking is still limited, so carpool when possible and plan accordingly. We look forward to the kickoff of the 2026 home campaign. Help us !!!

FHS Families – Thank You for a Great First Day!

Thank you to our families and students for how smoothly traffic moved this morning. For the first time we can remember, the car line was completely empty at 7:55 a.m.!

Thank you for following the traffic patterns and helping keep things moving. We appreciate everyone’s cooperation and hope to keep it going throughout the week.

A few quick reminders:

🏫 ARRIVAL

FHS doors open at 7:05 a.m.
Arriving early when possible makes a big difference with traffic.
Students should be in class and ready to begin the school day by 8:05 a.m.

🚗 STUDENT PARKING

Students must have an FHS parking pass to park anywhere on campus, including the church lot on McCollum Drive.
Students must park in their assigned space.
Students assigned to the student parking lot should use the Wayah Street entrance to help reduce congestion at the front of the school.

🚙 MORNING DROP-OFF

Please continue following the designated traffic patterns.
Pull all the way forward in the drop-off areas to keep traffic moving.
Students should have their belongings ready and be prepared to exit when the vehicle stops.

🚌 AFTERNOON PICK-UP

Parents may use McCollum Drive or the front loop for afternoon pick-up.
Parents should not enter the student parking lot to pick up students.
If possible, waiting until approximately 3:20 p.m. will allow buses to clear campus and traffic will be much lighter.

🍎 FREE & REDUCED LUNCH APPLICATIONS
Regardless of income level, we encourage all FHS families to complete a Free & Reduced Lunch Application. Applications must be renewed each school year, even if your student qualified last year.

Any student who qualifies for the reduced lunch price will automatically receive lunch for free.

The 2026-27 school year is already underway in many North Carolina school districts, with many more welcoming students back over the next two weeks. That means the big yellow buses are back on the roads!

Leave yourself a little extra time, be patient and stay alert around school buses and bus stops.

Did you know passing a stopped school bus can result in a $500 fine and five points on your driver’s license? If a driver strikes a child, this becomes a felony.
