💜 MEET THE SAFE VOICES TEAM: TAYLOR

Taylor serves as the Prevention & Education Coordinator at Hearts of Hope: Center for Sexual Trauma and has spent more than a decade working in victim advocacy, prevention, education, and community outreach.

Throughout her career, Taylor has believed that prevention starts with connection, creating spaces where young people feel safe enough to talk, learn, ask questions, and know that someone is listening.

Through Girl Talk and Girl Talk: Rising Leaders, she has watched girls who once hesitated to speak up begin to recognize their strengths, trust their voices, and step into leadership.

Those relationships are what make Safe Voices so meaningful to her. This event represents a full-circle moment: young women she once welcomed into Girl Talk are now helping create a space designed to encourage, educate, and empower the next group of girls.

For Taylor, that is what prevention is all about, giving girls the knowledge, support, confidence, and opportunities they need before a crisis ever happens.

💜 MEET THE SAFE VOICES TEAM: JADEYN

Jadeyn is a 17-year-old student at Loreauville High School. She participated in Girl Talk in 2024 and returned for Girl Talk: Rising Leaders in 2026.

Although she lives in New Iberia, Jadeyn has dedicated many of her Saturday mornings to making the trip to Morgan City to participate in Rising Leaders. Through both programs, she has stepped outside of her comfort zone, built confidence, and strengthened her leadership skills.

💬 “Learning to step outside of your comfort zone can be scary, but it can also be where some of the biggest growth happens.”

At Safe Voices, Jadeyn will put those leadership skills into action by helping lead the Healthy Relationships, Boundaries, & Consent session.

Jadeyn wants Safe Voices to feel real, not like another program where girls just sit and listen. She wants girls to connect, have conversations, laugh, learn, and leave feeling like they gained something from the experience.

Looking toward her own future, Jadeyn hopes to one day become an orthodontist.

💜 MEET THE SAFE VOICES TEAM: ADDISON

Addison is a 17-year-old student at Centerville High School and the oldest of five children. With a passion for psychology, she has always been interested in understanding people and the ways they connect, heal, and grow.

Addison joined Girl Talk in 2023 during a time in her life when she felt lost. Her mom encouraged her to join a group that, at first, she thought was silly. But every Saturday, she kept showing up, and along the way, she realized something important:

💬 “Everyone was lost, but no one wanted to be alone.”

Over time, the girls became her community, and Ms. Taylor became a mentor who helped her recognize her own strength. Through Girl Talk and now Rising Leaders, Addison has grown in confidence, self-awareness, and her ability to advocate for herself and others.

She has become more knowledgeable and confident in the topics she speaks about and is excited to bring that growth into Safe Voices.

For Addison, Safe Voices is an opportunity to give other girls the same kind of support she found, to share what she has learned, create meaningful conversations, and help build a space where no girl has to feel like she’s figuring everything out alone.

💜 Now she’s ready to use her voice to help other girls find theirs.

♥️BIG NEWS FROM OUR RISING LEADERS! ♥️

Over the past several months, the young women of Girl Talk: Rising Leaders have been learning, planning, researching, and using their voices to create a prevention project for other young women in our community.

We are so excited to finally introduce SAFE VOICES: Remembering Victims, Supporting Survivors, and Preventing Violence!

On November 14th, 30 girls ages 15–18 will come together for a FREE youth-led event filled with interactive activities, meaningful conversations, resources, food, door prizes, and more.

We are also excited to welcome Skasa Rideau, Su***de Prevention Coordinator/QPR Instructor and ASIST Trainer with the Jacob Crouch Su***de Prevention Foundation, who will provide a one-hour youth su***de prevention training during the event.

📚✏️ A New School Year Begins with Your Support! 💜

As students across St. Mary, Iberia, St. Martin, and Assumption Parishes prepare to head back to the classroom, Chez Hope is asking our incredible community to help make the transition a little easier for local children and families.

For many of the families we serve, purchasing school supplies can be a financial challenge while they are rebuilding their lives. A simple donation can help ease that burden and give a child the confidence to walk into the first day of school feeling prepared and ready to succeed.

We're currently accepting NEW school supplies, including:
🖍️ Crayons, markers, colored pencils, and pencils
📓 Notebooks, folders, binders, and loose-leaf paper
🎒 Mesh or clear backpacks
🧴 Hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes, tissues, and paper towels
✂️ Scissors, glue sticks, rulers, and other classroom essentials

Technology abuse can happen through everyday devices and apps, including:

Phones & Texts
Constant calls, threatening messages, monitoring contacts, or checking call logs.

Social Media & Messaging Apps
Harassment, fake profiles, impersonation, public shaming, or repeated unwanted contact.

GPS & Location Sharing
Tracking someone through phone settings, family location apps, map apps, smart tags, or hidden devices.

Smart Home Devices
Using cameras, doorbells, speakers, thermostats, or locks to monitor, scare, or control someone.

Email, Cloud & Online Accounts
Logging in without permission, changing passwords, reading private messages, or accessing photos and documents.

Vehicle Apps & Connected Cars
Tracking location, monitoring movement, or controlling access through car apps or connected vehicle technology.

Payment & Banking Apps
Monitoring purchases, restricting money, stealing funds, or using financial accounts to control someone.

Spyware or Stalkerware
Hidden apps or software used to monitor texts, calls, photos, location, or online activity.

Technology-facilitated abuse, or TFA, happens when an abuser uses digital tools to monitor, threaten, control, or harass someone — even from a distance.

Phones, email, GPS, social media, smart devices, and connected home technology can all be misused as tools of abuse.

The attached data shows how common this harm can be:

90% of victim service programs report text and email intimidation.
85% of shelters encounter GPS tracking.
75% report remote eavesdropping and account breaches.
72% of survivors are tracked through smart devices.
70% report nonconsensual media sharing.
69.7% of young adults report experiencing technology-facilitated victimization.

Tech abuse is not “drama.” It is not “just online.” It is a real safety issue.
