“The mountains are calling and I must go.” — John Muir

The mountains were indeed calling as KYRBA enjoyed another great visit with two of our eastern Kentucky members.

Executive Director Ryan Watts stopped by Gearheart Communications in Harold to see James Campbell before traveling to visit Bill Grigsby and the team at Thacker-Grigsby Communications in Hindman.

We appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the communities they serve, hear about the exciting opportunities ahead, and witness firsthand the beauty of eastern Kentucky.

A sincere thank you to our members for the warm hospitality. We always enjoy our time in the mountains!

KYRBA continued its travels across Kentucky and beyond, advocating for expanded broadband access and stronger rural connectivity.

We were proud to sponsor the NSCL Bluegrass Night in Chicago, where we connected with legislators and discussed the importance of broadband infrastructure for Kentucky communities.

Next, we traveled to Paducah to join Cornerstone Connectivity (formerly WK&T Telecommunications Cooperative, Inc.), Congressman James Comer, and USDA Rural Development State Director Travis Burton for the announcement of a $1.3 million ReConnect Grant.

Cornerstone Connectivity General Manager and KYRBA President Karen Jackson-Furman accepted the award, which will expand broadband service in Carlisle County by funding 22 miles of new fiber infrastructure and connecting 66 locations.
