Congratulations to Dr. Julian Rogus School Kindergarten Teacher Colleen Roberts and Substitute Teacher Amal Lenart on winning September Summit Awards! Our Board of Education proudly presents monthly Summit Awards (September through May) to recognize those who give a little extra to make SHSD161 the very best school district for each and every student.

They were nominated by a parent for taking the time to understand each student’s strengths and challenges and offering encouragement and guidance that builds confidence and makes learning fun. "Ms. Roberts makes sure each student is valued, supported, and included, and when Ms. Lenart is subbing, I know I don’t have to worry about my daughter getting off track.”

Roberts is in her 14th year of teaching kindergarten in our district, and Lenart has been subbing for SHSD161 since 2021.

THIS SPARTAN IS STATE BOUND!! Good luck to Summit Hill Junior High seventh grader Evangeline Lettiere at the Illinois Elementary School Association Girls State Golf Tournament at Metamora Fields tomorrow! Lettiere shot an 80 and placed 6th at the sectional tournament at Lincoln Oaks Golf Course in Crete last week to qualify, and SHJH sent her off to state with a parade through the school today. GOOD LUCK EVANGELINE...AND GO SPARTANS!! 💚⛳️🖤

Over the past few weeks, our Hilda Walker students have had the opportunity to try band and orchestra instruments! Beginning Band registration is Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 5 to 7:30p, and Beginning Orchestra registration is Thursday, Sept. 17, from 4 to 7p. Both will take place in the Hilda Walker gym (enter door #14). The registration process will take approximately 20 minutes, and students and parents can arrive at a time that works best for them. We can't wait to get our Wildcats started on their music journeys this week! 🐾🎵🖤
