Equipping Minds We seek to improve a student’s and adult's learning difficulties by increasing cognitive skills.

We work one-on-one with each student and their family to engage the student in new ways of thinking and problem solving that are important to learning.The center offers an intervention program based on insights and approaches developed through the study of cognitive science. These approaches seek to improve a student’s learning difficulties by increasing fundamental cognitive skills. Improved cogn

itive skills lead to improvements in academic learning such as reading, comprehension, writing and math as well as social learning involving relating and communicating with others. Difficulties with academic learning are often due to underdeveloped cognitive skills, such as visual and auditory processing. working and long term memory, logic and reasoning, sensory motor integration, and attention. The goal of our program is to improve a student’s fundamental cognitive abilities so that learning becomes efficient and meaningful. This allows the student to confidently confront new learning challenges with a belief in their own ability to think critically and solve problems. The Equipping Minds program was created by Dr. Carol Brown and showed gains in verbal abilities, nonverbal abilities, IQ, and academics in a quantitative doctoral research study. The results are being published in an international medical journal in April 2018.
