These students in Mrs. Miller’s kindergarten class are officially Letter Experts! 🎉

That means they know ALL of their letters and sounds—a huge milestone on the path to becoming readers. 📚✨

Our goal is for every kindergartner to be a Letter Expert by Fall Break, and families are highly encouraged to help at home too!

Ideas to try at home:

🔤 Play “I Spy” with letters on signs, boxes, and labels.
🧩 Match uppercase and lowercase letters using flashcards or magnets.
✏️ Practice writing their name and circling the letters they recognize.
🎨 Make letters out of Play-Doh, pipe cleaners, or blocks.
📖 Read together daily, pointing out letters and sounds as you go.

Literacy 🤝🏽 The Art Room

Who says books are just for the classroom or free time? 📚🎨

This week, kindergarten listened to Mouse Shapes and followed the sneaky mice as they used different shapes and colors to create things and hide from a cat.

Then, the mystery began! Mrs. Pearcy gave students shapes one at a time to glue down, and they had to figure out what they were creating. By the end, their mystery shapes had turned into a cat—just like in the story! 🐱

Along the way, students practiced shape recognition, using glue sticks, and carefully adding details with a permanent marker. A fun way to bring literacy and art together! 💙

🎨🐷 Preschool artists were busy practicing their paintbrush strokes!

Our preschoolers had fun painting muddy pigs while practicing three different types of strokes: back-and-forth, up-and-down, and diagonal. We started by practicing each stroke in the air before putting our skills to work on paper! 🖌️

Mr. Mink and Mr. Andy’s classes practiced their strokes, too, and even had some bonus shape-sorting time!

So much learning, practicing, and creating happening in preschool! 💙🎨
