In November, FHS JAG students completed their JAG Career Association Installation Ceremony for the 25-26 school year. It is a great opportunity for students to get involved in event planning/coordination as well as work on important skills such as public speaking, leadership development, and communication skills! It was an event hosted by the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce - Workforce Center and was a fun and engaging chance for students to learn about some of the most in demand and hands-on career fields in our state and across the country! Some of our FHS JAG students had the opportunity to do a little community service and help their city out in the aftermath of historic flooding by helping remove some of the sandbags that were placed to hold back the flood waters in downtown Frankfort. Frankfort High School JAG President, Ty Harrod and Vice President, Ava Maina recently had the opportunity to meet with Representative Erika Hancock at the Capitol. It was a great visit where the students got to discuss their plans for the future as well as some of the values and concerns they share with Mrs. Hancock. Many of the FHS JAG students took part in the 60th Anniversary Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. marching for civil rights in Frankfort. It was a great experience for the students to make signs, walk the same route that was walked 60 years ago, listen to speeches from local and state officials, have their voices heard, and practice civic engagement. Frankfort High School JAG students took part in a charity food drive for the Franklin County Emergency Food Pantry and were able to gather approximately 150 non-perishable food items to donate! JAG Officers took time to assist with packing up and delivering the collected items. JAG KY
